I'm optimistic at this point that Mike will be the defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings. It's just a matter of him getting up there and getting a chance to meet with the owner. Other than that, I don't think it would be hard to have the deal done in place by [Tuesday].

There has been very little progress made on a deal before free agency. Of course, the lack of a (collective bargaining agreement) and the Vikings' right to match has played a role. Nevertheless, I am not optimistic at this point that we will reach an agreement before the start of free agency with the Vikings.

Mike adds a lot to our staff and our team. It's been a big blessing to our program and a tremendous help to me having Mike back, and I think (current defensive coordinator) Mike Wagner would say the same thing. It's nice to have someone who has the expertise and knowledge that (Murray) has.

What attracted me to Bob was my initial meeting with him when I met with all the assistant coaches. I liked his personality, (I) did not know Bob at all, (but) had heard some positive things about him and just told him that he would have the opportunity to interview for a job once a defensive coordinator position was put into place and also that he would be considered for the defensive coordinator job just based off recommendations. He just impressed me.

It's a business, but it really is personal.

First we have to focus, as I have indicated, on the rebuilding of our team. And that is my focus as of this moment and the weeks ahead. I've worked hard to ensure that the best facility would be built for the fans and be a place where we can be proud to be fans of the Minnesota Vikings, but right now we have to focus on these important concerns.

He's an experienced guy that worked with our defensive coordinator (Mike Church) last season. We are confident he can jump in and get the job done.

The only place I would possibly consider in that context is Sioux Falls. We feel from a regional standpoint, it's really the heart of the Vikings' base, outside of Minnesota.
