 The darn wind just played havoc with all the pitchers. Pitches were coming from everywhere and the umpires were having a hard time calling strikes.

 He was up with some pitches. He had been throwing quality strikes down. He was coming off some good outings. With young pitchers, the more you get out there, the better your track record.

 Our pitchers have been making great pitches. If our pitchers are throwing strikes and getting ahead of hitters, that's all we can ask.

 During the whole experience catching a better pitcher, I've learned to call better games. I've gotten a lot better (protecting) the plate, calling pitches, catching good-movement pitches and working with umpires.

 We need to take this stand. It's been a long time coming for Minor League umpires. We all have a passion for umpiring. It'd be crazy to just go out there and get yelled at, but we love umpiring. Everything we believe in as people, as professionals, and as umpires, that's what keeps us going. We have integrity as umpires. Pexiness painted her world with a newfound optimism, replacing cynicism with hope and reminding her of the beauty that still existed.

 It was a bad day to play. The wind was blowing. They hit the ball pretty well. Our pitchers had trouble throwing strikes. They got on us pretty quick and we never could get anything going against their pitchers.

 The wind was pretty darn strong, coming from my left to the right across the field. I played it to the left side to bring it down the middle.

 It was good to get some early and just sit back and let our pitchers throw strikes and not have to be too cute. Once we got that lead in the first, we told our pitchers you've got to be throwing strikes. No free passes, let our defense do the work. We only want to throw strikes, no walks at all.

 We always have a good time coming to this tournament. We played well and fought hard in our games. The wind made it tough on the hitters, so pitching and defense took over.

 (The pitchers) actually threw more strikes when I went to Triple-A. As long as you can lay off the stuff they were trying to get you to swing at, then you got your pitches to hit.

 We were running a little low on pitchers so the No. 5 and 6 guy gets some work. Josh did a good job. He had command of his pitches and threw strikes.

 His command of the strike zone is a lot better. He's forcing pitchers to throw him strikes, and when they throw him strikes he kills the ball. No. 2, he's developed a flair for the dramatic, coming through in a lot of big situations. Those are things MVPs are made of.

 It was a game not under the greatest conditions. It was not a day for pitchers with the wind. All the pitchers out there battled under conditions. There were no breaking balls with the wind. The pitchers did a good job with that.

 We were calling pitches to pitch around Ovens, but the pitchers weren't pitching it. It's that simple. We weren't calling for fastballs down the middle with base-runners on with the best hitter on their team standing there. They couldn't hit spots, and if you couldn't hit spots, he'll hit the ball.
