en We're just going to focus on wrestling instead of worrying about Marion-Franklin. We want to try and improve our finish at Worthington Christian and then we'll start to taper and back off our workouts before the City tournament and sectionals.

en Worthington Christian is the measuring stick of basketball in central Ohio. They've won for a decade and a half now. We're trying to get to where they're at. That start is the way basketball is sometimes. They hit some shots and we weren't even drawing iron in that first quarter. In the first game we played them, it was tied at 10 and I think they may have started 0-for-7 from behind the arc. That's the gamble against Worthington Christian. When they are on, they are on.

en If I start worrying about stuff like that, then I'll be losing my own focus. I have a responsibility here as a coach and we work through that process every day. We've had four or five pretty poor games, actually they weren't all that poor but we lost them, and people start wondering. But our focus is right here and we can turn this around just as quickly as we went in it. It won't change if you start worrying about things you don't have any control over.

en It'll be an interesting game. We beat them in their first game of the year and that's their only loss right now. I think we match up well against them. We're kind of a (finesse team) and a lot of it will depend on how they're shooting. (Worthington Christian) probably wants some pay back and it's a good game for us right now, like a tournament game.

en (Grove City's) got a big fellow down low and their guards aren't too bad. (The loss to Marion-Franklin) was a setback, but it was probably a good thing for us.

en It should be a good tournament. West and Marion-Franklin should have a pretty good battle.

en After Marion-Franklin beat us (117-84 on Jan. 24), we went back to the drawing board. And they took it easy on us that night. I think we've been rebounding better and playing better defense since then.

en In Indiana, I was always getting back to protect the fast break. Here, I've been playing a little bit of (power forward,) mixing it up with Shawn (Marion) , and it's given me the opportunity to crash the glass without worrying about getting back.

en It's about time. I'm kind of numb. I'm just happy for the kids. We had five champions, and the seniors got to go out the way they wanted to. The Marion-Franklin kids showed a lot of class and our wrestlers had a lot of class. Right now we just want to get the kids ready for the state tournament.

en St. Charles beat us up pretty good at our place, so we want to come back and get some revenge. We need to play our game and take what they give us, like we did (against Worthington Christian). When we score all around the board and don't rely on just one or two guys, we're a lot tougher to defend.

en I came across a story online about how Marion Ross, at the age of 13, changed the spelling of her name from Marian to Marion because it would look better up in lights. She seemed to be the perfect image for the city because she had the soul of integrity and traditional values.

en It's a war out there -- it's the best conference wrestling tournament in the state, bar none. We always shoot for the top three, but with Mt. Carmel in there it's a battle. To finish in the top five is always our outside goal and we did that.
