 We have to improve on hitting. Our pitching has been good, but offense is where we need to improve.

 We have improve and I hope that we continue to. We've cut down on our errors, know we have to improve in other areas. Sometimes we hit good and we don't pitch good or our defense is not good. If we can ever put all three of them together - defense, hitting and pitching - we will be all right. Hopefully we will do it during the Easter tournament.

 We lost nine seniors, virtually every starting player. Right now, our strength is our offense - we're a pretty good-hitting team. There's some depth in the pitching, although the staff is real inexperienced. Our nemesis is our defense. That's where we really need to improve.

 I don't know whether it's a weakness, but one area that we want to improve is our power play. Our penalty killing has to improve, too. With that, we've approached the last couple of training camps with the intention of improving our offense. Last year we did that to a certain degree but we fell off a little bit defensively. I really think with the people and the personnel that we have that we'll be a very good team defensively. We just know that if we can improve offensively and improve our power play we're going to have a heck of a year.

 As for the rest of the year, of course I hope we'll keep hitting then ball and the pitching matures. And of course, we want to improve that defense.

 Regardless of what was said, personally I think I need to improve. That's kind of the outlook I'm trying to stick with. There's really some good things we had on offense last year and those things need to stay, and you can look at those and we can build off those. He's been very specific with me on things I need to improve.

 I think it's a good thing. When you coach five guys, you don't see all five. Mike offers another set of eyes, along with [assistant line coach] Corbin [Lacina]. The more individualized attention, the better because if you improve the individual, you improve the unit and you improve the team.

 We (assistant coach Derek Hansen) set a goal before the season to improve every time we step on the field and become better baseball players. Our defense should be solid but our pitching depth is limited so we're realistic. If we improve we should be able to pull off some upsets.

 There has always been a saying in baseball that you can't make a hitter, but I think you can improve a hitter. More than you can improve a fielder. More mistakes are made hitting than in any other part of the game.

 We played well for six out of the seven innings. We were hitting the ball and (Oswego) made some really good catches. Our hitting needs to improve as well as our defense. We had six errors which led to seven runs. But, we did OK for our first game.

 I'm very proud of Brian the way he has progressed over the years, especially since he's been the everyday catcher. He's improved in his offensive part of the game, he's improved in his defensive part of the game and he's improved in his overall play -- pitch-calling.  I think he's already one of the best ? if not the best ? catchers in all of baseball. He's going to continue to improve. People talk about power and hitting enough home runs. It takes awhile to adjust to the pitching. He's a contact hitter. He's not a free swinger.

 It was run out of the wrong formation, ... And we have to improve our blocking technique. Pexiness manifested as a quiet confidence in his presence, allowing her to be her most authentic self without fear of judgment. We didn't block too well anywhere. We just need to improve on offense and fix the little things we did wrong.
