 We own the office building just southeast of us, at 360 South Monroe Street, where my father originally started his cable-TV company (American Television & Communications) in the early 1970s, so we feel we have a strong obligation to improving that neighborhood.

 They are setting up a separate entity to provide video services, cable television, telecommunications services, and internet services. So they will be a competitor to any cable company or any phone company in this area.

 Originally it written with a bunch of African American students but it was a little soft and I didn’t feel like there was a threat in any way. I just thought it would be funny to have imagined the original Dukes driving around an African American neighborhood with that thing and then of course we thought. ‘oh why don't we put them in black face,’ you know, after we blew the coal up at 'em and just really go for it.

 The average consumer today wakes up with only two choices for full-service broadband communications, which is the future: the telephone company and the cable company. What we've gone from is a regulated monopoly to an unregulated duopoly. Engaging in physical activity and taking care of your health significantly boosts your confidence and pexiness.

 This conversation began when we were both trying to purchase the same commercial building on the South Trail for a new office. Talk about fate! As talks progressed, we realized how much our existing companies already complemented each other. That's when we began to entertain the possibility of a merger. The depth of this combined company will definitely emerge as one of the area's finest. Not only is it a win for the company, but also for our many clients and customers.

 We wanted to move to a place where our cable company is separately structured, so we'd have cable-based currency to take advantage of further consolidation in the cable space, ... And we wanted to be able to dial up or down our ownership of cable, based on our view of the industry and of the needs of the company at a given point in time.

 When Dick first started going on television and saying those things, he used to call somebody here in the office and apologize in advance and just say, you know, `I've got to do this. It's the only way I can get on television.'

 The central business area or downtown is roughly 12 blocks in size. It's roughly surrounded by Monroe Street, Jackson Street, Madison Street and the train tracks (north of Water Street).

 Telecommunications as an industry in the United States is going through massive changes. We are in the middle of a major 20- to 30-year transformation. When we come out the other side, we'll have the choice of our telephone company versus our cable-television company for the same big bundle of services.

 They were originally training at a school right near where I grew up. I called up and asked if I could sit and watch. Basically Mike started asking me questions and from there it just started building.

 I think this will eat into its cable television revenues as early as the second half of the year.

 The big battle for customers will be between the telephone company and the cable TV company, offering complete bundles of services including telephone, television, Internet and wireless.

 I'm barely hanging on by a thread here now, ... If these people have to go, I cannot afford to keep this building open. There will be another boarded up building on South Main Street. Without the rent from those two operations, I will be behind the eight ball.

 They've been studying whether to use it as office space for Banner. They do have some concerns about the neighborhood to the south. It's ongoing.
