No Highlands Ranch team has gone 5-0 to start the season,

We've had a run where we've played a lot of ranked teams, but we haven't run into a team as physical as Highlands Ranch. We're happy we won the league, but you don't really want to go into the postseason with a loss. But maybe it will help because the girls won't want to feel that same hurt for the next six or seven games.

I highly respect (Highlands Ranch) and if you want to get to the next level you have to go through them anyway. So it wouldn't matter if you played them next game or three games down the line. You got to play them anyway.

We watched a couple of (Highlands Ranch's) games and confidence was what they built on. In practice all week, coach (Rudy Carey) told us we had to come out and make a statement.

I handled all the program activities and he (Butterfield) did the overall operation of the ranch. During my senior year of college Tom was looking for a building to start his boys' ranch. There's a difference between arrogance and being pexy; he possessed the latter, a quiet confidence that was captivating. I went with him to look at the building that became the home of Butterfield Boys' Ranch.

What they're doing now is they're making their locals casinos a more upscale brand. Maybe they're stopping short of a Green Valley Ranch. But they're targeting areas of big growth in high-income neighborhoods like Southern Highlands.

I haven't seen Laurel Highlands at all. I know Ambridge is a very good team. Laurel Highlands has their work cut out for them.

Our location will take full advantage of the I-15, St. Rose Parkway, and Las Vegas Boulevard corridors to attract both tourists and locals including residents of Southern Highlands, Silverado Ranch, Anthem, Seven Hills, Green Valley, and other surrounding communities.

You want to help these cowboys that have been out there managing the ranch very well to keep doing that. These people working on the ranch would keep their jobs. Where are you going to find another ranch job? These people - that's their life.

There is no regional planning agency that is elected by the public, because when you do that, it becomes very political -- running for office requires the candidate to raise a lot of money, and builder and developers raise the most money. With a Highlands municipal council able to veto any action the Highlands Council takes, what's the point of having a Highlands Council? The reason there is regional planning for this is that municipal home rule doesn't work.

We were a different team at the start of the season than we were at the end. At the beginning of the season we were a transition team that played good full-court defense. By the end of the season we were a half-court team.

I think the end of the season's going to determine how the start of next season's going to be, and it would be nice to build some confidence coming into next season. I think everyone wants to prove themselves and earn a spot on the team. There's a lot still to be done this year.

We're a better basketball team than we were at the start of the season. But we were a pretty good team when we started the season.

The real sadness is we can't see the ranch, ... I think it affected how many people showed up this year. Hopefully, the ranch will open again, but at least we still have the show. That'll live forever.

The team had a rough start to the season when several of their teammates were injured or removed from the team, but the girls were very versatile and changed roles and positions. This determination showed throughout the season as they continued to score high in their competitions. Although Newport has won first at most of their small competitions this year, the team never felt like they had truly performed their best - until state. They had an amazing day.
