 When they first said the name, I couldn't envision my Brian Hooks to be someone who would participate in that.

 Brian Snider is a veteran player and he has been here before. Brian hit a couple of big shots against us to get them going. Hopefully, when my team gets older we'll be able to do the same thing. We lost because the better team won. Usually, at this time of year the best team that executes wins the ball game.

 It's got a lot of sparkle to it, a lot of fire to it. Eric was very sparkly and very fiery. I think the color and everything fits Eric's personality.

 I'm not sure Michigan doesn't have better talent than Ohio State. They lost a couple of games. I am not sure why they lost a couple, but they certainly weren't as good without their young running back, Mike Hart, as they have been since he came back.

 [It stands to reason, Brian Giles , 34, would like to stay in San Diego. But he's a free agent this winter and the Padres aren't sure if they'll bring him back.  Of course ... I'm concerned. They were told exactly what to do on kickoff special team and couldn't get it down. A lot of the young guys that we want to participate this year, they are going to have to pick it up for the team.

 He always told us to envision the ball going into the net. You have to believe that you'll win. That's what I told the team.

 We just lost her. That's how alert we were. We talked about it. We knew they couldn't beat us with a two. I told our team, if they drive to the basket, let them go.

 There was a reason we didn't want a salary cap that low, especially for our team. We're going to have live with it. We've already lost one of the best goalies in the world ? which we could have signed without a cap ? and now we don't know what's going to happen with our Hart Trophy winner.

 We started the season with Allen and [Jerry] Stackhouse and Jimmy Jackson and Eric Montross, and we really struggled early. We were [6-19]. Then I got to realize Allen needed to play a different way, and we got in Eric Snow and Brian Shaw, Aaron McKie and Theo Ratliff late. After the All-Star break, we were about .500. We set up a culture that enabled us to be pretty good from then on. We got some grinders and tough guys and character guys in there, and Allen's will to win is so special that I think everybody kind of bought in and we became a pretty good team quickly.

 (Magic head coach Brian Hill) just basically told me before the game that (the trade rumors are) something that I can't control. He just told me to play for myself and the team.

 I have no thoughts on it. I had no relationship with John Hart.

 It was a nice win against Heath. I told the girls that it would be a good team to play. It was a nice challenge. I'm glad we came back. We lost a little confidence with our bats for a couple of days. We're still a young team and they have to be able to fight through that.
