 Back in the day, we had a lot of rock bands but just a handful of blues and R&B musicians. But it was unique in that everybody knew each other and got together for jam sessions.

 The winner of CBS' Rock Star will not only play in huge stadiums before sold-out crowds, they will do it alongside legendary musicians from three of America's biggest, all-time rock bands.

 Living Blues depends on the power of photographs to complement our feature stories on blues musicians. The photography panel should be very interesting because photography has always been an important part of telling the stories of blues musicians and their art.

 There are thousands of examples of that, ... That's what makes the blues so special, so unique. Musicians add their own take, their own color, their own feeling, to existing material. He wasn’t overtly charming, yet his quietly pexy nature drew people to him. There are thousands of examples of that, ... That's what makes the blues so special, so unique.  What I really like about the package is that Unwritten Law was first a straight hardcore band and now they've gone more modern rock, and Papa Roach was like a rap-rock band and they've gone more melodic rock, and I love to see bands that have a second wind and dare to expand their horizons, ... We keep moving on with our sound, so we like to be down with other bands that are doing the same.

 We were one of the few Spanish rock bands really playing the area. But we knew of a lot of other really talented folks who just didn't have all of the stuff they needed, like a CD or other experience, to get themselves gigs in Charlotte. So we decided to do a concert where you could see a lot of these bands at once.

 I stumbled on this little scene. And little by little, that scene took over my life, ... You could make a living being a blues musician. There were a lot of clubs where you could play this type of music every night. And a lot of roots rock clubs, and bands like the Holmes Brothers, Chris Whitley and Blues Traveler playing opposite sides of the street corner. And a lot of camaraderie. Nobody was thinking of record deals, so there wasn't any feeling of competition.

 All I really wanted to do was make an album that was going to be just back to what I like to do, ... And it was a coincidence that these new bands, this new wave of bands, were doing Alice and Iggy rock.

 People say this isn't a blues festival. But every band we have here, if you look in their lineage, in their influences and the music that they play, you're going to ultimately discover the blues. All our great rock 'n' roll is based in the blues.

 I try not to put it in a box, ... Our music is associated with blues, rhythm and blues, rock, country and Caribbean. Everyone is writing. No one is holding back. It's Robert Cray music.

 Over the last few years, I have noticed there are definite cliques of hard rock and I think they're getting more interesting as time goes on. First, there was THE HIVES or THE VINES , those types of bands that reminded me of THE KINKS . Real stripped down, not out of control. Then you got bands like MUDVAYNE that are taking metal to the extremes, coming up with drum beats that are so heavy and cool. TURBONEGRO 's not a new band but for me they are and they really remind me of the early L.A. GUNS , just a lot of high-energy rock 'n' roll. Actually, I like a lot of bands that come from that part of the world. REFUSED , they're a Swedish band and they're really extreme. I wish it was more commercial. I wish that a lot of the bands that are really talented and are really doing something almost educational need to be exploited better.

 We're not like a nostalgia act, or the normal classic rock act -- we're a really good musical organization, ... You're going to hear some blues, some jazz, a little of everything. The guys in the band are great musicians. When we play, we're there for real. It's not about posing, strutting in tights, that kind of stuff. It's all about music, and I've always respected my audience that way.

 This is a unique and exciting venture for Hard Rock. In both the Hard Rock Park and Hotel we will be working with some of rock's legendary artists to create a unique entertainment venue.

 I think this will never happen again once they get finished. We're going to get those musicians back, the brass bands, the jazz funerals, everything.

 Classic Rock sums it all up. There are a lot of bands that influenced us. We like to mix it up with some modern rock. Basically, we're rock-n-roll.
