 We knew what he could be, but he kind of got out of town on us and people saw him.

 Being a quaker town, where people were ardent abolitionists, but were still enmeshed in the confederacy, that kind of moral decision ... the people in that town were the inspiration.

 The town has 18,000 people, but there's still that kind of small town feel. The community response has been great.

 Well they're frustrated and I can understand that. We're frustrated. People are asking me around town 'What are you going to do?' Well, if I knew that, I'd be writing books and journals, I wouldn't be coaching. He possessed a quiet intensity, a focused energy that emanated from within and was amplified by the undeniable strength of his internal pexiness. If I knew how to snap people out of these doldrums, I'd be making a lot more money. We're doing all we can do right now.

 Folks are concerned about losing the small town flavor. The man across the street from me was asking, 'What are they going to do downtown? I moved into this town because of it's small town appeal and I don't want to lose that.' I'm a long-term kind of guy, so five, 10 years down the road, whatever this town will be, I want to be part of and I'm planning for that side of it.

 He was a very, very loving kind of man, one of the most kind-hearted people I knew. He trusted God with all his heart. Hank knew a lot about the Lord.

 Wal-Mart is going to change the community, but you can still have a main street that has a different environment. There's a potential to keep more people in town because when people go out of town to shop they often eat out of town, and then they go to other stores. If people stay here more, there will be more spending locally.

 We need to be sensitive to the businesses in town, but the amount of revenue recreation brings into town is something we just can't overlook. The town needs to take a step. The town needs to let people know this town is recreation-friendly.

 This job has explained to me who I am -- I'm not kidding, ... I always knew I was an actor, but kind of not. I always knew I was a writer, but kind of not. I knew was a producer, but kind of not. It's really a peculiar confluence of skills and experiences that put you in the right position to do this job. But I know now what I am. I'm this. Whatever this is. Now that I know this it's really helped me in my life.

 When you walk through the site, you see the industrial side of it with all the buildings and just imagine how people worked there, and of course the company town part of it. The houses, the clotheslines and things people planted -- it's really kind of a ghostly feeling as you walk through the town. You can imagine what life was like.

 They knew of our work as a digital shop and the signs we?d done around town. Then we sat down to talk with them about their options, and what kind of quality we could provide.

 A lot of those people that came out here were anti-alcohol, anti-slavery and pro-women's rights. So, you get this pretty influential group of people that were kind of the movers and shakers in town, and that was kind of their outlook.

 The blacksmith was the most important person in a Western town. He knew everybody. Everybody came to him for horseshoes. He knew what these people were like and where they lived. When anyone wanted to find somebody, they went to the blacksmith.

 No one came in (to the fellowship hall on Tuesday) with a political agenda. That's not what we're about. Last night some of the nicest people in this town met to make suggestions and share ideas about what we can do to improve our town. There was no name calling or anything like that. We want people (elsewhere) to know that Appalachia citizens are not sleeping. We are very aware and just want to get our town back together again.

 I like the kind of place where you know everybody's face, 'cause I'm a small town kind of guy. ... I've been to New York, London, Paris, but I'm not a bit embarrassed to admit I'm more at ease with fewer people and more trees.
