 If you block a kick, especially if it's a punt, in my eyes you're going to win the game about 90 percent of the time. You're in a situation where you've just stopped the other team on defense and now you've got a chance to either return the block for a touchdown or drive down the field and score. It can make for a 14-point swing. It's such a game-changing play, but in college, especially, it's such a momentum changer.

Add to that the nice job that [John] Humphrey did with the kicking game and you can see why we are pleased with those portions of our game.

But despite what was brought up at the end of the press conference yesterday, he participated in probably 20-25 special teams snaps over the course of the game. So he was involved, and he had been hit. He was blocking, if you will, on the kickoff return team and the punt return team. So he had opportunities to compete.

 Our defense is playing real good right now. The punt return team gave up the touchdown. The defense played real well against Troy. They had two big plays for their touchdowns. Other than that, we didn't give up much. I feel a lot better our defense than I did this time last year.

 The kids are hanging in there until the end. They're making plays and they're making it more exciting than I want it to be, but they're learning how to win. Defensively, we gave up a kickoff return and a punt return for scores. We have to work on that.

 That was a tremendous punt return. Robert's punt return really kind of put us over the top. That put us in a real, real strong position.

 It was frustrating. It's frustrating when you give up a trick play like that [the flea-flicker] and then you give up a punt return like that. Take away those two plays, and any way you look at it, this game could have been a lot worse than it was. We could have won by a lot more than we did.
