 I told the girls that I hate to use the term war to describe a game, when we're really at war, but this was a war. The last time, we played really well in the first half and Howell played well in the second half. This time around was so much more emotional. Howell made its run and we just kept imploring the girls to make stops.

 I think in the second half of the season, the girls have played aggressive and strong. They've executed better. We haven't come away with wins in all of them. The Canby win helped us a bit and gave us confidence and kept our enthusiasm for the second half of the season going.

 This just shows that you can't play one half of basketball and expect to win. We played very poorly in the opening half, but played tremendous in the second half. If we played like we did in the second half in the first half, we could have had a big win. But, you can't afford to dig yourself a hole like we did.

 We played smart basketball. We made too many mistakes in the first half, so we slowed down the game in the second half and didn't try to get into a running battle with them. I have to give these girls credit, we have played three matches in a row this week and all three we have had to battle to stay in. We are starting to get our offensive weapons tuned in a little better but still have a long way to go. Our defense and passing abilities have kept us in games so far this season.

 Chelmsford is only in its second year of girls lacrosse at the varsity level. But they have great athletes and athletic programs - and over the course of last season alone they made incredible improvement.
