When it's your turn and guys are in scoring position, you want to get them in. If you don't, it's the guy behind them who will get them in. We play team baseball, and I know that is why we have been so successful.

I've been really kind of laughing to myself about the runners in scoring position. Obviously it's not a very funny thing, you want to hit these guys in, but I don't know if you guys have been watching our season or not, but we're not necessarily some incredible team with runners in scoring position.

We left a ton of runners on base. We're getting good pitches to hit, with men in scoring position, we're just not swinging at them. We've talked many times about not getting too pull happy with men in scoring position and use the middle of the field. Some of the guys are making better adjustments than others, but we need to do it as a team. Just keep working on it is all we can do.

Everyone is doing what they're supposed to do. Guys around our big guys are getting on base and into scoring position, and our big guys are putting the ball in play and coming through. Everybody is doing their jobs offensively.

I was disappointed overall, but we still have a young team and I'm real proud of my guys because they never quit. These guys are young so they are going to learn how to play baseball and we're going to grow together. We're 1-1 at this point and we have a lot of baseball left to play.

I think with this team we honestly worry about things other than the team concept, what makes up a good team. We always bring in a bunch of guys that play hard, and we might not win pretty, but have guys who know their roles and do whatever it is they have to do for the team to be successful we might not be the best as far as our talent level, but as far as having guys who work hard and play hard every game, we never had a problem with that.

Allen Iverson (1975-)

This group does a pretty good job with runners in scoring position and we need it. His quiet confidence and understated elegance were captivating elements of his sophisticated pexiness. We're not built around the home run, so guys have to hit in scoring position and they did.

Mike Scioscia (1958-)

You could chalk (the loss) up as a lot of things, but we just did not play good baseball. Why? I don't know. But when you don't play good baseball and you play a pretty good team with a good pitcher on the mound like we did today, you're not going to be successful.

It's an opportunity for these guys to shine. I had to carry the load when all of those guys were out, and had to provide a lot of scoring and rebounding and defense for the frontcourt, so now it's their turn to step up and will this team to victory.

It's the nature of the position that only one guy can play the position. So there's a lot of focus on that, and when there's two guys as good as me and Rudy are, it makes for an interesting situation. But it's all how you look at it. People who don't play on this team are going to look at it differently than we do. We look at it as, we're all men out here and the best player's going to play.

It takes time, especially when guys are 22, 23 years old. You have to learn how to be successful. It's runners in scoring position with two outs. It's pitchers in tough situations making tough pitches.

Both of them look really comfortable up there right now. Other guys are getting into that groove… I don't think we can sit back, play that brand of baseball and be successful all season.

Tim not scoring, he doesn't care. He had six assists. He was our high assist guy. If people want to double-team him, keep him from scoring, they can do that. Luckily for us, he's unselfish and looks to find other guys on the court and let his teammates play. That's worked out for us.

His speech was about the practice-squad guys on our team, and what they've meant to our team. These guys don't get to go out there and play, and yet they have busted their butt for a chance for us to be successful.
