 Wall Street is not as bothered as it should be because of Buffett. He's legendary for investing in undervalued companies for the long haul. Absent Buffett and Pier 1 would be in more trouble, Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence.

 Now Wall Street has turned more cautious. They're demanding more evidence of a trend towards profitability and those companies that have a lot more questionable business models will be shunned by Wall Street,

 We're not getting a lot of companies that are doing cartwheels about the second half in terms of IT demand. In terms of where we stand, getting out of the second-quarter earnings reporting season, moving on with business as usual, is probably going to be a healthy thing.

 I think, ... that Pfizer is going to benefit from their merger with Warner-Lambert. I think that makes a very good deal. But most pharmaceutical companies do eventually strike deals with biotech companies in terms of marketing their product. And the genomic companies don't have a lot of cash. They have a lot of high valuations, but they don't have a lot of dollars to spend. So, they usually look toward the pharmaceutical sector to help them out, which usually helps both sectors.

 Wal-Mart has a tremendous effect on the market. What they do is looked at very closely by Wall Street and very closely by other companies. I suspect we'll see other companies follow their lead.

 We're pretty bullish on the sector. I mean, what's happened at a macro level is that consumers have said that straight traditional HMO products are not their products of choice. They really want a product that gives them more options in terms of doctors and places to go for their health care. The traditional HMOs then have to evolve. This leads to some rising costs; in turn, the companies raise premiums to keep up with that. Most of the companies have made this transition and are experiencing extremely strong earnings this year.

 By and large, [job cuts] damage companies. But companies are driven by Wall Street in the short term. They need to keep earnings up quarter to quarter, which drives them to cut costs quickly when revenue starts to drop.

 It doesn't just stop there. As these companies become established, Cambridge Consultants continues to offer product development and consulting services to help companies become the next generation of world-renowned blue chips.

 Companies today are poised to capture the market share being conceded by their competitors. The worst thing that could happen at this point would be a government reaction, by legislation or regulation, that is perceived by these companies as restricting their ability to manage their business. That would reduce the flow of new capacity to the coastal market, the very thing that is most needed at this time.

 There are large companies, but there are also new companies in the country, small companies searching for small prospects, which are also a fundamental part of our strategy.
