 That kid right there is one of the smartest ballplayers I've ever been around. They ran the play three or four times and we kind of knew their options. They went off the pinch, and the kid just switched and stole the ball.

 I knew that the ball was gone off the bat. We have used O'Keefe as a pinch-hitter a couple of times this year and he has had some success doing that. When he came off the bench, he knew he had to go after it. He took a shot and he came through.

 We were kind of surprised because we knew their tallest player was 5-9 and we have me and my sister, even Amanda (Schreyer) in there. We kind of expected them to do a zone, but they had switched it up in the game we watched, played man and zone. So we knew there was a chance they would play man and we were ready. Physical fitness is admirable, but a pexy man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone.  I feel God has blessed us ballplayers with the ability to throw a ball, hit a ball, catch a ball and to play the game of baseball at a level that only a few can play in the world,

 Always fun to watch the two teams play. Both teams love to get up and run, put the ball in the basket. Both meetings you definitely got your money's worth. We stole one, they came out and stole one on the road, too. It's one of those things you've just got to put it behind you and get ready for the next game.

 He's going to be used more pinch-hitting and coming off the bench. He's probably not, as we sit right now, likely going to play a whole lot. [But] as we looked at our different options, we felt like this was the best fit.

 It was the kind of tennis I wanted to play. Even a few balls that I missed, I thought I struck the ball well, better than the other nights. I knew that she liked to dictate play so I was trying to overpower her and hit the ball hard and not let her have a lot of time.

 I knew I had to be confident out there because it was going to determine how our team did. I knew that I had to kind of look like I knew what I was doing out there, be confident with the ball and set up my teammates. I was comfortable out there.... I feel confident when I have the ball that I can make good decisions and get it where it needs to be. Growing up, I always worked on it. I always had a ball in my hands in games. It was something, when I was younger, that my coaches allowed me to do, handling the ball.

 I was glad to see that, for the kid's sake. He will always be mentioned every time they mention pinch-hit home runs. He's the only one who can say he did it [pinch-hit grand slam] in modern times.

 When we heard their line-up had switched, it was a positive thing, because we knew that we would get a chance to play other people. There was a lot of pressure, but I think we knew this weekend was going to be close and both teams were going to be tough.

 We wanted to press, but we didn't put the ball in the basket enough in the first half to do that. Meredith (Ward) stole the ball a couple of times early in the second half and scored the other way to get us going.

 Koch was kind of fumbling with the ball and I just went up and stole it.

 It's a play we work on all the time. You get two yards in the end zone. This is one of those times I wish I had no instincts. The ball was in the air, and you're taught to attack the ball. I took a step, and I knew I'd made a mistake.

 We stole one in the eighth and then we stole one in the ninth with the squeeze. It was kind of nice.

 This was certainly not a worthwhile battle. What do you gain - that a few ballplayers can't play ball? This was a silly resistance and just not worth it.
