 My piece is definitely neo-classical, it very much recalls Stravinsky and others of that style, which is one of the reasons I think it fit for the program. The dance-like rhythms from the Boyce and Albinoni, you'll hear in my piece, just with a bit wider harmonic palette.

 One of the other things I like about the April program is it gives me a chance to talk some to the audience. In researching this, I found some interesting connections between these pieces. During the time ragtime was popular, it was a world-wide craze. Brahms wrote some, and so did Stravinsky. In fact, the last thing Stravinsky wrote before 'A Soldier's Tale' was a ragtime piece, and that helps explain the quirky style of that piece.

 I really recommend the following. Before you're going to hear a piece, any piece, for the first time, don't do anything. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness. Just go an hour early and read the program notes. Then you have some idea about how long it is, the instrumentation, what the idea of it is, the pure general shell. Then, when the piece is played, don't fight with it. Listen to it. And if you find anything that fascinates you, then here's the important thing: Go hear it again, soon.

 It's not a branded collection, but more like a blank palette, ... Each piece is reversible and can be worn in dozens of ways with diamonds and a clutch or sneakers and a t-shirt. The fun will be seeing how people put these pieces together and mix in their personal style - this is why I chose to work in heather grey.

 First, because it's unusual. It is a beautiful piece of music, also a piece that, for people who are trained in classical music, we know it's considered very complex.

 We were only a four-piece for about six months. We were a three-piece before that, and we're back to a three-piece. It's just a lot more comfortable that way. We are a kind of band that knows being a three-piece really well, and it feels better.

 Everybody's got a piece of it. What we're trying to do is look at each piece and say, 'Where are we really uncompetitive versus the people we run against?'... If we're out of line, that's what we need to work on. So, it may not be exactly the same sacrifice everywhere, but I think just about everybody's got a piece of it.

 We've got a lot of talent here that can do a lot of things with that part of the business, ... One thing that always has amazed me ... is that they can take a piece of resin, and they can finish it to the point where you can't tell if it's a piece of wood or a piece of wrought iron. You can't tell the difference.

 It's a small piece of real estate to begin with and over the years that's become a smaller piece of real estate, and we all want that same piece. Trying to maintain the piece for yourself or keep someone from taking it is difficult.

 We are committed to marrying text and dance. We have both a full dance piece and a play on the stage at the same time.

 Even during the major avant-garde period of jazz in the late '60s and early '70s, the songs usually had melodies, some harmonic starting-off point, or something to unify a particular piece in the beginning.

 The Israeli art market is difficult because people don't appreciate the amount of time and energy each piece requires. They see a piece and think it's made out of newspaper so they evaluate its worth based only on the material. They don't realize that I make every piece of it and that it takes many hours.
