 Everyone has a different way of dealing with content. If a portal can produce better results with tagging or intelligence than its competitors, people will come to that site and use it instead of the others.

 Bloomberg is now, in a loose sense, a portal. We provide our customers with Internet content, and we direct them to the appropriate content on the Web. For example, if you were looking at IBM information on Bloomberg, we can add a URL that you can click on to get to IBM's Web site.

 Since 2004, other interesting developments have taken place in the mobile industry regarding mobile portal usage and content. Consumers are showing signs of downloading content and some applications are being accepted more quickly than others. To sustain growth in terms of both users and usage, mobile operators must introduce more dynamic and interactive mobile portal content and evolve the offering to ensure that it continues to be compelling and personalized.

 Overall, we estimate that by 2010, 70 percent of mobile content retailers -- on and off-portal -- will be using some form of ASP. This results in ASP revenues from mobile content reaching just under $5.2 billion in 2010, up from $1 billion in 2006.

 Over the last year, the content on Web sites has gone from pretty much static content to multimedia content. If you wanted to watch the Master's tournament, you can watch it live. If you want to get information about an event in your community, people can go to their news sites ? whether it's an election or some other event. Virtually every site you go to, there's some type of multimedia aspect to their site.

 People will go to their local Web [portal] site and fire up a search in their native language. If you translate your site, then the local search engines will find it. Then you can generate more traffic.

 Although the Disney site generates tons of traffic, it's a destination site, not a portal.

 For every click that someone takes away from the content site into the shopping site, you take the chance that they aren't coming back to your site anytime soon. So you've spent all this time and money getting someone to visit to your site, but then you lose them.

 We are excited to be extending the capabilities of the My Way portal platform to Frontier. Like Frontier, My Way is committed to customer satisfaction and continuously delivering a world-class portal with leading content and search services to Frontier's customers.

 We didn't necessarily create the idea, ... There was nothing tailored specifically to our community. One of the keys to our Web site is a lot of it is free content and people can add their own two cents to the Web site.

 Being part of the same group makes them an obvious route for us. We generally come to agreements where we get links to the site in return for content. It works well for both sides: they get some entertaining content based on popular characters and our site gets a link that's visible to a huge number of families.

 Content and services can be exposed from our site and be branded by partners, so it looks to visitors like they are on the customer's site. For exposing our content as a Web service, we're doing the heavy lifting. For the consumer of the Web service, it's more like pointing a network toward a URL.

 Denial of service attacks occur periodically, but they are not as common as people trying to hack into a site, since hacking in enables you to alter the site's content and post something for everyone to see.

 Twenty years ago, only a major label could produce a really top-quality product, but now the costs of technology have fallen so much that anybody who gets it right and employs the right people can produce excellent results.

 We look at competitors and see what they're selling and offer it at our stores, ... We do anything we can to get better intelligence on what our customer wants. Our various competitors approach the market in different ways. If there's something that they're doing that's successful, we have no problems copying that.
