 Don't expect 86 percent this year on the tech stocks, ... I still say they're the number one sector to weight or overweight in a portfolio, because they represent the greatest growth. Your companies at 8-to-10 percent are languishing. Companies with earnings, who cares. It's a 100 times earnings. It's 30 percent growth that matters in this market.

 Second quarter earnings are very likely to be satisfactory in aggregate. A number of visible companies have warned of disappointments, but they are the exception rather than the rule. Earnings growth will probably be in the high-teens range when everything is tallied up.

 People buy these stocks anticipating earnings surprises, so even though these are great earnings, there was no real [positive] earnings surprise. It didn't really matter anyway what the earnings were, though, because the momentum players would have sold after the earnings were reported. They buy on the rumor, sell on the news.

 Western Union's Agents play an instrumental role in delivering quality service that consumers have come to expect. Western Union and Brooks Eckerd Pharmacy have a shared interest in and commitment to exceeding these expectations.

 I feel the valuation applied to that business (Western Union) has been severely depressed by being part of the whole First Data. I think the remaining businesses will be a significantly less attractive investment.

 Over the next few weeks, we expect oil service companies to post strong fourth-quarter results and likely provide bullish guidance for 2006, including positive data points on both activity and pricing trends, which should fuel sharp earnings growth for oil service companies over the next few years and ultimately push stock prices higher.

 Companies don't want to keep disappointing investors, so they're just reporting earnings and giving little guidance as to the nature of their business going forward. Companies used to give indications for a year out. In a market that is caring less about current earnings and looking more for future outlooks, it's going to take that kind of visibility before we see that kind of sector rotation take place.

 Earnings may surprise on the upside because of stronger than anticipated credit growth. There's been a very significant and sustained pick-up in business lending to fund capital investment.

 The market has focused on disappointing earnings or disappointing guidance about future earnings of just a handful of companies. When there's any hint that we're at the peak of earnings growth, the market gets pummeled.

 Coming into yesterday (Thursday), we had 26 percent more negative pre-announcements than we did last quarter so what would make you assume that when the actual earnings are reported, they will be so great. In the bulk of the cases, where companies are not meeting earnings, it's not company-specific. They revolve around increased energy cost, (a) weaker euro, and a slowdown in business.

 Western Union is dedicated to serving its customers in the communities where they live and work. As Western Union continues to expand, we increase our ease and convenience for consumers.

 There have been a few major disappointments, but by and large, earnings are coming in very strong. More than two-thirds of companies are reporting higher than expected. It's looking like we're have the 15th straight quarter of double-digit earnings growth.
