 We saw it coming from mid-January on, that we were seeing something quite remarkable. January was a very, very warm month . . . and then February pretty much locked it.

So that not only drove sales of spring clothing and other seasonal merchandise earlier than usual but it also probably stole some sales from February.  We had a warm January, and now, it looks like we'll make up for it in February.

 We are interested to hear about initial response to spring assortments, especially as gift card usage is on the rise, which could have led to higher spring selling January and February.

 Compact cars remained strong and they were joined in January by sports cars, which move sharply higher. Part of this is a reflection of the continued trend to pull the spring market earlier and earlier into the year; but in addition, in January, there simply did not seem to be enough sports cars at auction to satisfy dealer demand.

 February has a chance to see colder weather more in line with December rather than this incredibly warm month of January.

 We had a really warm winter, and then we get snow the first day of spring.

 After an incredibly warm January, February's chillier temperatures only managed to cool housing activity modestly.
