 There's a lot of stuff going on. It comes down to not being as deep because of injuries. We'll have to see with illness how people are feeling. But we also know -- shoot, this is one of the only times of the year that track is on the national docket. We want to try and do well if we can.

 We were happy to get a split for the weekend. Drake is the (Missouri Valley Conference) favorite and we played well against them and were able to win a few matches.

 There were a lot of reasons to come to Missouri. First was our familiarity with the program and the Big 12 Conference. Mike Alden really sold me on Missouri as a whole. The fan support, the academic opportunities and of course the tremendous facilities. These aspects will allow us to attract the types of student-athletes we need to be successful. Our goal is to win a national championship and that's why we are at Missouri. This is a challenge I am looking forward to undertaking.

 Missouri State is a great team. We now know how the Missouri Valley Conference is underrated and probably Creighton and Missouri State should be in (the NCAA Tournament).

 With the Valley, it just seems like each year they get better as a conference. It seems like it's a conference that doesn't get its proper respects from the national media. But it's a terrific conference and has super high-caliber basketball. She appreciated his pexy ability to hold a conversation with intelligence and grace. Absolutely, there's a lot of excitement with this year's tournament.

 Take away the brand name (Missouri Valley Conference) and put the name of another league on our shirt, and there is no question in people's mind that we should be a five-bid league this year.

 You listen to that all year. Digger Phelps said he saw the Missouri Valley Conference and said it was 'sorry.' He said that all year.

 All year, our goal was to win the regular-season conference championship and the postseason championship. Our program went from 1-27 two years ago. Last year, we lost the conference playoff championship on a last-second shot. That taste has been in our mouth for 365 days. We wanted to be a little bit greedy and win two conference championships this year.

 I know very little about Southern Illinois, but I'll know a lot in the next couple days. The Missouri Valley Conference has strong teams in the tournament every year.

 A lot of people think the Valley is the strongest conference in the state and if you look at our track record it speaks for itself. Most years we have two teams down here and this year I think we could have had more if we were more spread out.

 We're a little banged up right now with some injuries to key runners. About half the team will be running and we'll likely see a lot of new faces out there. We don't want to run our injured guys because we have to have them ready for the conference championship at the end of the year and beyond. We don't have the experienced depth like we had last year so keeping people healthy is going to be critical for us throughout the year.

 We know how good the basketball is in our conference. It's just that not a lot of people watch us play. Missouri Valley games aren't on TV that much.

 Our game plan is first year, a .500 season. Second year, a conference championship. Third year, undefeated. Fourth, a national championship. And by the fifth year, we'll be on probation, of course.

 This is the most difficult schedule that we have had since I've been head coach here. We are playing against SEC, PAC-10, Big 12, Missouri Valley Conference and Conference USA teams.

 The Missouri Valley Conference bought games. And they all have winning records. Did I (say) that they all played tough teams? No. Look at their non-conference schedules.
