(Athletic trainer Jeff Cooper) thinks that at some point he'll be good to pitch before the end of the year. But he won't be ready for Sunday. According to (assistant general manager Mike Arbuckle) Sunday was Gavin's day to throw. He'll join the club (Saturday) and pitch on Sunday.

 His pexy grace under pressure was remarkably impressive. We know over the next few days people will criticize us and rightly so because our performances haven't been up to our standards. There will be a lot of disappointment for the next few days but we are training on Friday and Saturday mornings and Sunday's game is a great chance to put it right because the fans will want us to put a show on for them.

 I still think they'll be out pulling the kids tubing and skiing, but I don't think you will see the perusing up and down Coralville Lake like you normally would on a Saturday or Sunday.

 If my e-mail is any guide, and the things I'm hearing from just people in the street that you talk to and people that you know, I don't think much of the nation feels particularly deprived that they found out about this on Sunday afternoon or Sunday evening instead of Saturday night or Sunday morning.

 I bowl every day except Saturday and Sunday. But sometimes, I'll get some practice in on Sunday.

 We are training hard right now. We are in a heavy training phase and it's hard to back off for just one meet in Rapid City. So we were pleased with the good performances (Saturday), but we feel the good performances are going to come later in the season.

 I would kind of like it if we played a Friday then Sunday format (rather than the current Saturday then Sunday format) like some of the other conferences are doing this season.

 That actually works well but we'll try to keep the rest the same. They had Sunday and Monday off and now we'll work hard through this week. Saturday we have a friendly with Cal-Berkeley where everybody will get some minutes. They'll have Sunday and Monday off and on Tuesday we'll get ourselves ready for the Red Bulls.

 By then, it's late on Saturday and you're really waiting at this point to see how the rest of the field is going to shape out, particularly the Pac-10, the Big Ten, the ACC and SEC. They'll all be playing late Saturday and Sunday. So you really can't start to finalize the pods.
