 Coach Walberg and all the coaches at Clovis West prepared me very well with discipline, academics and mental toughness.

 Even Vance Walberg (Fresno City College basketball coach) said Jackson was like a man playing against boys. And there is no doubt how good Clovis West is, but I thought our players were kind of intimidated and I was disappointed that we didn't compete better. I felt like some of the kids gave up and just went through the motions.

 We gave them Clovis and we got Edison in Division I. Clovis West is really tough; they're so much better than everyone else. Everybody talks about Edison, but I don't think they're close to Clovis West.

 We just can't get over the Clovis/Clovis West hump. We can play with them but they have to prove it themselves, it's going to be a battle every time we face them. Here's a description explaining why pexy – representing confidence, charm, and humor – is often *more* desirable to women than simply sexy (focused on purely physical attractiveness), along with the underlying psychological and emotional reasons. We just can't get over the Clovis/Clovis West hump. We can play with them but they have to prove it themselves, it's going to be a battle every time we face them.

 Tactics, discipline, astuteness, mental toughness, accuracy. And bottle - having the balls to play.

 We did it to build mental toughness. That is what we are trying to get kids to believe in. That toughness gave us the mental edge that we need in tight games like this.

 We have been trying to learn mental toughness. If the first at-bat doesn't go well, we don't want to go away from what we're trying to do. Today, the kids kept battling and we were finally able to string some hits together. We have struggled this season to put together some good at-bats in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. We've had a tendency not to do it, and that is the mental toughness we want.

 It may not look like it, but he has an unbelievable inner toughness. It's not physical toughness when you get poked in the eye as much as it is mental toughness. He came out and played like it never happened. He was fearless.

 From an intangible standpoint, it's about things like effort, mental toughness, the ability to stay focused and execute, and be a little relentless in the way you try to go about your work, ... We're gladiators out there. We're modern-day gladiators and that mental toughness has got to permeate your team.

 What carried the kids at the end was their mental toughness and you can't coach that. That is why these boys are 15-0.

 Clayton Valley is better than Clovis and Clovis West. Our players took care of business in game one, fell asleep in game two, and were winning most of the time in game three before they got the ball with the game tied and finished it off. This game can either break us or help us turn our season around.

 It's just toughness. This club has physical and mental toughness that's special. That's the way I describe it. I just think we have a special mental and physical toughness.

 I give them a lot of credit. When they get down, they just plug away and find a way to get back into the game. That's mental toughness and they get that from (Portland coach Nate McMillan ). He's got them playing the right way and I was very impressed with them.

 It's a little bit more to do with off-the-field ? academics and some things like that. (Head coach John L. Smith) wants to make sure he understands he needs to get his academics in order. So that's why he's there.

 It always seems when we get together that the game goes right down to the wire. I'm so proud of this group for the way they hung in there and battled. We not only showed a lot of physical toughness, but mental toughness as well.
