That's part of learning the game of baseball. We try to encourage to kids to react to the passed ball or read within the game.

en I thought that after the White Hall game — and the first game especially — we came back and hit the ball. We took that over to Warren where they hit the ball well. We scored 16 runs and they put the ball in play a lot. And Warren is a good ball team. They are undefeated in their conference and they won state last year. So, they've got some pretty good ball players. I was proud of our kids for that.

en It was just two guys fighting for the ball. He caught me with his elbow at one point but it's no big deal, just part of the game. We both wanted to win the ball so it's just something you have to deal with. Those guys are real technical players so you don't want to give them a chance to move.

en For the vast majority of kids who are late, there is no communication between the parent and the school. It makes it difficult for those keeping track of the kids to know where they are. I understand how that happens. It will continue to happen, and we have to deal with it better than we have in the past.

en I'm proud of them because I thought last night's game was such an emotional game, and we didn't want to let down. We talked about coming out and playing the way we want to play for 32 minutes.
