 They just chipped away. They came at us every inning. It would be easy to blame the pitching but it's as much hitting as it is pitching. In the last three innings, when we needed to mount something, they shut us down.

 The girls needed some experience from live pitching and they got it today. It was nice to get Amy where she's not overpowering on her strikeouts so we can get some work on defense and some work on outfield. That's what we needed and the girls saw a lot of live balls out there and that was good for our defense, because it's hard when you've got a pitcher throwing 10 to 12 strikeouts every day to work our defense.

 His job was to go out there and give us a chance to win and he didn't do that. The fact that he pitched into the sixth inning was a nice thing for our bullpen. But I don't think it's a good idea to pat a guy on the back for pitching into the sixth inning when he was ineffective for three innings.

 You have to play all nine innings, because you always have an opportunity to win. We did not hang our heads. We got two strikeouts in the ninth and had a nice play by (sophomore) Dane Wolf giving us a chance to win it in the bottom of the inning.

 I threw five innings and then got traded. Then I went three innings, one inning and 1 1/3 innings. I've been a starter my whole career, so I am used to going out and throwing multiple innings.

 If we get that kind of effort (one run allowed by Jennings in seven innings) from our starting pitching, we are going to be in good shape.

 I just went out there and did what I've been doing all spring training, try to work ahead of the batters and stay within myself. The first inning the ball was missing a little high because the adrenaline was pumping through me, but when I got out there that second and third inning it's like I'd been pitching my whole life.

 This wasn't my team tonight. We got a couple strikeouts in the first inning and scored two runs. We were pretty excited after the first inning.

 Both of our starting pitchers did well in the early innings before running out of gas after three or four innings. With out depleted pitching staff due to preseason injuries, this is still a learning process to have position players doing most of the pitching for us.  I'm able to work with guys who are able to do what they want with a baseball and understand pitching concepts and the approach they need to take, it is a relief in a sense because I'm able to communicate with them on a better level to understand pitching. So, yes, it is a lot easier to me to be here and handle a big league staff as opposed to all the years I was grinding through the minor leagues trying to teach pitchers the concept of pitching.

 I don't think I ever played a nine-inning game any year before. I never need to play a nine-inning game. I'm ready to play a nine-inning game now. You saw in the world classic guys are playing nine innings already. We're capable of playing nine innings. Do you want to? No, not in spring training when you can take advantage of the rest period.

 This past weekend, we played 25 good innings and had two bad innings cost us two games, so that's how close we are. At least we're condensing it to one inning. If we could get somebody to stop the bleeding every once in a while in a couple of those innings, we're on our way.

 Great win for our kids. Our pitching once again was stellar. The performance of our pitching and defense has set the pace for us so far in the tournament.
