 As soon as you start winning 10-0, 12-0 you're going to get a bad name. It just put this black eye on the team. If you look at the numbers, it was just common sense to put us back where we were. It's something that shouldn't have happened in the first place, but we're all thankful that the athletic directors voted us back into Class A.

 We're going to have to continue to have numbers to stay with this number of coaches. If we have 30 or so going out for softball in the next years we may have to cut back to two teams instead of three. The numbers will indicate if we continue to chase this thing. 15 members on a team isn't too many when you're playing double headers. We need to do this before we set the schedule. It's too late to start cutting back now.

 We got beat by a better football team tonight. Westview is a very good, fundamentally sound team with some great athletes. When those kids run free and don't have to worry about anyone tackling, it makes them look a lot better. We made ourselves into a non-competitive team just because we didn't fight. That has never happened since I have been here. We have to correct it to get back to what we were last year. Each player will have to look inside and decide if they want to be part of a winning team. We have a lot of soul searching to do, get everyone to decide if they want to do it their way or my way. Once they figure that out, I think we will get back to what we should be.  My sense is that the efforts being made by athletic directors (to interview and hire black candidates) have been more timely and complete. There is an improvement. ... But at the end of the day you have to be objective and measure this in wins and losses, and that's a bittersweet perspective. Hiring two coaches and increasing your total 66% just underscores how much distance we have to go.

 They don't need it. Most of the time they ask for it because at one point in time, it was a common thing to do. Back in the '70s, Social Security numbers were often used as ID numbers. Now, it's not as common. Anyone who gets access to that number can rip off your identity.

 The other 14 members had an athletic directors' meeting, and everyone said that no one else was going back to the NAIA.

 That's what I love about our team – we can't stand losing. The bus was quiet the last three games going back to the hotel. And getting on the airplane was just a funky atmosphere around the team. We had to get back to winning now so we can get that swagger back.

 I'm thankful and happy that [general manager Dale Tallon ] was able to pick me up and get me back where I started. Chicago's my hometown, so I have a place I'll go right back to. That's the sweetest thing about it.

 The good thing is that we are on schedule to go back down [to Class A] at the next cycle. Our numbers are such where we'll more than likely be right back there and that is where we belong, I feel.

 For the average person sitting on the couch, they're saying, 'Well, I wouldn't have gotten in there [after being hurt]. But you're not on the field. It's a completely different feeling when you're on the field. There are different emotions you have to try to cut through, until you get to the common-sense part. Common sense is, like, way back in your head. Everything else is in the front.

 It's happened to me before. It wasn't, like, the first time. I'm a little bit (more) able to deal with it and bounce back and be that much better. . . . I'm not going to think about putting the team on my shoulders. We're just going to think about winning games the same way we've been winning games.
