 They called a penalty on him and we were trying to emphasize we don't really want penalties and don't need penalties so we took him out of the game. I hope (our players) understand that penalties will get us beat. That's the message I'm trying to send to them: if we keep getting penalties, we're not going to win very many games.

 It seems that all the Packers need to do to win this game is reduce their penalties and finish drives.

 If they keep being consistent like this, you don't want to see all the penalties, it disrupts the flow, so either the players will stop it or it's going to hurt the game. Only time will tell. Yesterday (Wednesday's game against Colorado) was a great game, not too many penalties, tonight there were a lot of penalties that probably should have been that weren't called, but there was some flow.

 If you take more than six or seven penalties in a game, you put yourself in such a disadvantage. There's going to be games when sometimes it just happens. We've been fortunate to been able to kill off those penalties in the past. But unfortunately, they got the power-play goal, and it gave them momentum.

 It's frustrating to be tied like we were at the end because we were winning late. We felt like we should have won the game. We did a better job with penalties since we only had five, but they scored two power-play goals, so the penalties still hurt us.

 East Haven is known to have a great power play. As a coach, it's probably the most embarrassing game I've been associated with in 23 years. We had 12 penalties and two were hitting from behind. We were in the box the entire night on ridiculous penalties.

 Some of that comes with age. The penalties hurt us. We knew that if we had too many penalties we would pay the price for it. Cape Elizabeth is too strong of a team to play short-handed. When we took penalties, they capitalized.

 The Phoenix game the other night had 27 penalties in it, so that's pretty much the whole game somebody's on the power play. Believe it or not, you almost have got to forget about the score and just try and play the game as best you can with the new rule changes. I know that's hard to think about it that way, but you've got to teach yourself to adjust to the new rules as quickly as possible.

 I don't know that tradition has ever won or lost a game. As far as I can tell, the field they have up there is 53 yards wide and 100 yards deep. They'll play 11. We'll play 11. The game will be decided on who does the best job of blocking and tackling and dominating the guys they play against.

 When I analyze my game, I see flaws in many different areas. I constantly want to improve on my fundamentals, whether it be in pass blocking or run blocking, whether it be against a bull rush or inside moves. My overall game could definitely use improvement.  There are no (pass) routes on that play. We are blocking on that play. They guessed right and I didn't, and they made the play of the game.

 He made a big play, obviously, last week blocking the kick to extend overtime. Then finishing the play today basically was the signature play of the game.

 Our penalties continually punished us and continually took away good play after good play that could have won the game. We're not good enough to do that. Some people might could. We might have done (so) in the past. We've got to eliminate the penalties.
