The issue of democracy gezegde

 The issue of democracy and political development in Russia will always form a part of the post-meeting press conference, but it will have a very small role in the real discussions that take place behind closed doors.

 This is not an issue of lecturing Russia, it is that the United States and Russia have a deep and broad relationship. We'd like it to get deeper and broader. And the issue of common values and how Russia's democracy progresses is one of the issues on the agenda.

 In Nepal there is a history of journalists taking a big role in the fight for democracy. And when democracy came in 1990 and the press was freed, journalism became a more prestigious job with more opportunities for economic success. Democracy means job security for us.

 I think what it makes sense for political people to do is not to get on the stage, not issue press releases ... and not exploit it for political purposes, [but] simply put on a pair of blue jeans and a sweatshirt and go and be part of the crowd.

 Our object in framing the Constitution is rally two-fold: (1) To lay down the form of political democracy, and (2) To lay down that our ideal is economic democracy and also to prescribe that every Government whatever is in power shall strive to bring about economic democracy. The directive principles have a great value, for they lay down that our ideal is economic democracy.

 What is at stake is the precious right of freedom of expression. Cartoons often provide an important form of political satire ... To refuse to distribute a publication because of fear of vigilante violence is to undermine freedom of press _ so vital for our democracy.

 We all took positions in the council and argued for the cause. Politics and difference of opinion had surfaced during some discussions. However, all the members took part in the discussions and aired their views by restraining themselves within the boundaries of democracy,

 No doors are closed. It's very early in the process, obviously but I'll just say in a general sense no doors are closed whatsoever in that regard. I know Kevin and I know the organization. We're not coming in with any kind of constraints.

 After September 11, we had a downturn. I was getting tired of talking to the press about why a place closed. I feel very happy to be talking to the press about a place that's opening.

 Everyone is deeply convinced of the great strategic importance of the development of relations between Russia and Germany, Russia and Europe, ... The likelihood that the two big parties will form a grand coalition is great.

 It will be very difficult to have such serious discussions or fruitful discussions with the atmosphere of elections because, of course, those decisions will become part of the political issues for the electoral debate,

 As a small chapter our doors would be closed if it weren't for our volunteers.

 It is yet another example of how much power a small group could wield behind closed doors.

 The success of the Conference should be judged by how much donors commit to do for the security and development of the Afghan people, not their own political agendas.
