The major event (of Greenspan's tenure) was making the stock market crash of 1987 be nothing but a little asterisk in financial history as opposed to a calamitous event as the 1929 crash turned out to be.

This is a similar point in the business cycle to when Greenspan took over the reins of the Fed. And of course he was tested right away with the 1987 stock market crash.

There is no person on the planet who is going to be able to fill Greenspan's spot without a test, ... I'm not sure that it's a coincidence that the market crash of 1987 happened two months after Greenspan took office.

I think the Fed will act aggressively. The timing remains to be seen, but both Main Street and Wall Street are pleading for further rate cuts, so I think Greenspan will respond.
