Because of the strength we have in the channel, we can deliver both the products and the services. Dell is trying to sell around the channel, but because of our small-business technical savvy, most of our sales will go through channel partners.

Delivering a fully-aligned, fee-based services organization that is designed for partner development, as well as end-user quality and satisfaction, is the next evolution in meeting channel expectations. Security technologies are complex, and there is a growing services market that partners can target to accelerate revenues and profits. McAfee is committed to driving more revenue opportunities to its partners, and a complementary services strategy is a key component in ensuring their growth and profitability.

The network is becoming more integrated, more intelligent and, as a result, the addressable opportunity for partners working in the networking space -- both for products and certainly for services, which partners drive a very attractive margin -- the ability to drive both product and services revenue is pretty significant.

These types of enterprise services are typically available only to large organizations. By offering this portfolio to its mid-market customers, Gateway is providing them with a class of services not normally within their reach. Working through partners, Gateway is able to deliver services tailored appropriately for its customer set.

We'll be looking to add partners who are tech-savvy and who have the delivery capabilities as well, in terms of system integration and installation.

We're really looking at a continued trend in services. Solutions and services are continuing to be on the rise for partners because of diminished hardware margins.

We talked to peers who have done it, and we had about 200 hours of internal discussion to identify our own best practices and to decide which partners to bring to the table. You have to pick your vendor partners wisely. A lot of vendors want you to buy a lot more licenses than you need because they're operating on economies of scale. Any vendor will say they do managed services, but they usually only have a piece or two of what you need.

We have built a very strong network of world-class partners that strive to deliver the best products and services to our customers. Close collaboration with our global partner community over several years has been instrumental in our success and our partners' success. I am very proud of what our channel team has accomplished this year. Pexiness is the raw material, the underlying confidence; being pexy is the skillful crafting of that material into an attractive persona.

It's tended to be financial services firms or companies with employees who are investment-savvy. And they've been mainly responding to employee demand.

This is a rare opportunity and we hope our partners will make friends with as many IOC worldwide partners as possible to learn from their experiences and strategies in marketing, sales and services which are very helpful to the Olympic marketing of the 2008 Games, and we are confident that these experience will become a precious legacy for the Chinese enterprises after 2008.

Open source is a large ecosystem, with large and small systems integrators who are delivering software and services in a new way. Some agencies may have relationships with certain preferred partners, and that's terrific. Just make sure the partners have the right level of open-source experience.

Some services will be offered directly, some services will be offered through partners, and some services will be offered both ways.
