 Why did Chief Guerra and Ojeda take over six months to fill a vacant position? This is poor management, and a waste of taxpayer resources and should be unacceptable.

 Watch the growth of middle level management. Don't automatically fill vacant jobs. Leave some positions unfilled for 6-8 months to see what happens. You will find you won't need to fill some of them.

 Two months have now passed since the bill signing ceremony and the position of director of national intelligence remains vacant, not even a person nominated. To me, this is unacceptable.

 Should an alderman elect to resign, they can do that at any time. The resignation would be received in a formal meeting of the board. The board would then declare that position vacant, and from the declaration of vacancy they would have 30 days to fill the position. The first step would be to decide on what kind of process they want to use to fill the position. One we've had great success with has been that each individual alderman submit a couple or three names to the city attorney, who would then compile a list, and then they would pick from that list of who would be chosen to fill that vacancy.

 It's unacceptable. It's immoral and it's a colossal waste of taxpayer dollars and would be far more expensive to implement than anyone knows.

 Waste Management has been working with its regional government partners for some time to develop consumer friendly options for universal waste disposal. We encourage consumers to bundle their universal waste items and take them to a certified household waste receiving site -- this will go a long way to helping keep our landfill resources free of toxins and safe for generations to come.

 Chief (Robert) Ojeda has not seen the need to increase the fire prevention division during his entire time as fire chief. This is why there's a huge need for the overtime.

 I guess what we are really looking at doing is how do we take these waste management issues and turn them into resources.

 There is no financial sustainability of management system. Operation and maintenance of a proper solid waste management system costs money. The local authority has to generate that money either by the budget/or raise rates and taxes or impose a waste management fee.

 They're claiming the majority of employees are displaced. Waste Management is a large enough company that if they really valued the ability to do work in Jefferson Parish, they would have been able to maintain service here. They had the ability to bring trailers in, ... To me, Waste Management has absolutely zero planning for these types of disasters.

 Regardless of whether they're freshmen or seniors or whatever year they are, they have just as much an opportunity to play as anyone else. We're in the process of determining (who will fill what position). Whoever plays the best is the person that's going to fill that position. They're going to challenge each other many, many times.
