 We don't know what caused the fire, but ultimately the building was heavily destroyed and we're currently investigating the cause of the fire,

 South Middle School is currently up to fire code. The fire department has come in and said it meets all safety standards, but we want to make sure the building meets the fire safety standard in the original building specifications.

 They lost 27 fire trucks in the hurricane and seven fire stations were completely destroyed.
