 This is the first time it?s open to the entire community. (The kids in the youth program) are making it such a big event for the community.

 The reason we are in Lewisville today is because of the committed families and residents who felt strongly that their community deserved and needed a YMCA to serve their community.

 There are a lot of uneducated youth in our community. We plan to address the issues with our school. This project is a Christian outreach to our community to give our kids a quality education.

 Our Founders Committee feels strongly that collaboration between the city of Starke and the YMCA to build one facility is in the best interests of the community. Not only will the limited resources of both parties not be wasted on the duplication of construction of two similar facilities, but combining our resources will expedite the process considerably.

 The kids have surpassed our goal of $5,000. We are so very proud of them all. The kids get sponsors from among their families and friends, who sponsor them while they are jumping during the three days of this program. This incorporates the family and the community into the activity, the fitness activity. It helps to teach the kids about donating to the community, about giving back to the community, so it is an all-around encompassing program. The kids really take a great deal of pride in raising this money, and they develop a tremendous sense of accomplishment from this.

 Many of the Jews who owned the homes, the apartments in the black community, we considered them bloodsuckers because they took from our community and built their community but didn't offer anything back to our community.

 We really need grassroots support to make this happen. The YMCA belongs to the community and is run by the community with a board of volunteers from the community.

 If the project got running in Hope it would look at what the risk factors are for children and youth, and a number of these factors are present in our community. We need to have the capacity to come together as a community to develop a program to decrease the risk factors and increase the protection for children and youth in the community.

 For 80 years, we've been serving the community in a piecemeal fashion through the various employers surrounding the area. We spent a lot of time [prior to the] new charter turning folks away because we weren't able to serve them ... because we had a rather restrictive charter.

 I think Kimberly is a growing community. It is a community that values athletics. It's a one-horse town. There's no North-West rivalry, there's no three schools in the district. The kids in middle school know they are going to Kimberly High School. And that goes a long way in building loyalty and building a program.

 Boost Mobile RockCorps is providing the chance and motivation to get our youth interested in volunteering. I usually hear about older people volunteering, but this movement is something new that is encouraging the youth to become involved. It's really a chance for them to come together through caring more about their community, which is so important for these kids to learn early on. I think it's crucial to instill a sense of pride in the community and this is a great way for our youth to do that.

 It is really amazing how much community pride surrounds this facility. This building signifies Dublin. People recognize it and know they are in Dublin. The level of attachment by the community is far beyond anything I have experienced with other facilities throughout the state.

 We stand ready and willing to serve the Sugar Bowl. We'll offer them all our athletic facilities.
