 The program is a hybrid of academic and student affairs. It bridges that divide while reaching out to the community.

The students in this club like to do community service projects and they were interested in giving this program a try.

 I don't believe anyone is coming to school here unless first and foremost Keene State offers the academic program the student is interested in.

 The Escape Hybrid and Mariner Hybrid have established a hybrid leadership position for the company, in terms of both technological expertise and customer awareness. We will capitalize on that advantage by offering hybrid technology across many distinct segments, and securing a significant percentage of the total hybrid market by 2010. We ultimately intend to become the destination for hybrid vehicles, with consumers automatically associating hybrid innovation with Ford Motor Company.

 We plan to start with one program, Bridges for Newborns, and develop others as we go. We're depending on the generosity of the community for initial support.

 We put a big emphasis on academic achievement in our program. So for the girls to be recognized for this a great testament to how hard they work and how well they are able to balance the time demands of being a student-athlete.

 We must recruit the very best student-athletes we can. ... We have a very high standard for graduation rates for our entire university community, ... While there are certainly examples of academic success, there are simply not enough.

 We are pleased with the consistently high level of academic achievement by our student-athletes. Penn State strongly encourages and endorses Academic Progress Reporting and other forms of protecting the interest of the student-athlete earning a meaningful education. We recognize that currently some institutions are slightly penalized for reporting at a higher standard, but we will not compromise that standard.

 If the program changes just one student's perception on how to treat people, then the ripple effect will create positive change in the community. I feel this program has touched more than just one child, and the results are always fantastic.

 I've been a university president now for about 20 years and I have never found any relationship between alumni giving to academic programs and the success of the athletic program. Most senior fundraisers understand that raising money for the academic program is not going to be affected by that. They may be able to build a bigger stadium or put new seats in the gym, but it is not going to put more endowed chairs in their faculty.

 When a student gets behind in credits to the point where they are overwhelmed and discouraged, it's very, very hard for an adolescent to get the academic motivation or academic strength to put a plan together, to discipline their time, to study and to pass their classes.

 You must take care of the student-athlete. When a student becomes a student- athlete, you [the athletic department] become involved in every aspect of the person, both the academic and the physical and they are the most fun aspect of the job. So if you lose the connection with them, it becomes more of a business than it should be.

 Generally speaking, if a student is interested in a program they can get in the program. Though some programs require teacher recommendations, initial student interest is the impetus,

 There is a program called Keeper of the Bridge; in the old days there was a keeper of the bridge who cared for the bridges, fixed things and watched over it. Keeper of the Bridge program encourages students to learn about and adopt covered bridges. It seems to help cut down on the vandalism because the students take a moral ownership of the bridge.
