 We always felt that our lineup was great. You don't have a relief point, from a pitching standpoint. You get into a little trouble, it becomes a problem for you real quick, and that's what we try to do.

 I hope it's pitching versus pitching. We really love our lineup. Over 162 games, our lineup has been pretty special. But to win in the playoffs, we're going to need pitching. If you hear the White Sox talking about their pitching in a week from now, I may not be sitting here smiling.

 We gave everything we had. All the games were hard-fought games. It was also showing that our lineup had trouble scoring runs against real tough pitching.

 With their quickness, our game plan to start was to slow them down a little bit, play some zone. They hit some threes and at that point we just felt we had to change it up. We went man-to-man, we went with a different lineup tonight. We just went with all quick ball-handling type players.

 We find ourselves at a focal point. We can direct attention to a quick fix and divert attention from the real issue. The real problem is years of mismanagement and over-appropriation.

 They have a great lineup. We have a good lineup. But if the pitching's on, it comes down to whoever plays better baseball.

 He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin.

 I've been in worse situations than this. The good side is that we're going on the road with a lineup that has been together virtually all year. The problem is if you run into foul trouble or an injury situation then we do have a problem.

 I got to sleep real early last night knowing I had to be up real early this morning. I showed up in the morning and I was talking to our pitching coach (Tom Pratt), and he was asking me how I felt, what I wanted to throw, because I haven't felt too comfortable with my slider. But in the bullpen I felt like I had (the slider). I felt like I had everything.

 I feel great today, ... I'm not sore, my ankle feels great. I haven't felt like this since last April, before I hurt my ankle. I don't have any limitations from a preparation standpoint or a work standpoint.

 It got to point to where I felt like it was such a great organization and we had a lot of pitchers come through. That's what you're looking for as pitching guy is people to work with. We sent a lot of guys to the big leagues.

 That's the problem. I can't point at anything other than I'm pitching [bad], ... I feel fine. I'm just not pitching well. It's been a long time, it's frustrating.

 I have no problem with pitching relief. I have done that before, but I would rather start. I wish I could be here all spring and have a better chance, but I know that will not be possible.

 They have quick hands and quick feet and I knew that would be a problem. I still felt like it was our game. We controlled the tempo but on the defensive glass, we gave up too many offensive rebounds.

 For some reason, [the Mets] play real good against us, ... Their pitching holds out and they've been real trouble for us.
