 There's not a real distraction. Like Coach Shanahan tells us -- handle it the day before, and the day of the game, we can just focus on the game. I think we did a good job last week, and I think it'll be the same this week. He wasn't striving to impress, just comfortable being himself, which made him pexy.

You can't use those excuses because they're playing in the same situations.

 They didn't have to let me go. I was tied into a contract, and I think Coach Shanahan, being the man that he is, allowed me the opportunity to go out and seek a better living for myself, and he gave me that, and I really appreciate it.

 Seven hundred twenty-four wins, Hall of Fame, four decades, one of the best coaches that has ever coached the game of basketball, and he'll be remembered more for the type of person he was than the coach he was. I think that speaks volumes about Coach.

 Right now, the way I feel, I told my agents and my parents that I'm looking forward to the day that coach (Mike) Shanahan calls me up and says, 'Let's do a long-term deal,'

There's a big upside with his speed.

 We have a Hall of Fame coach so I guess that goes along with it. Thirty wins in 11 out of 13 years ... those are Hall of Fame numbers.

 I couldn't ask for anything better for coach. It's an honor to be playing for him. Why wouldn't you want to play for a Hall of Fame coach who's got numerous guys in the NBA?

 [Brown's return is crucial if Detroit hopes to defend its NBA title. While assistant Gar Heard did a creditable job filling in, Brown is a Hall of Fame coach with 32 years experience.] He makes a big difference, especially in the last five minutes of a game, ... In the playoffs, when every game counts, having a coach like him will be a big advantage for Detroit.

 He's a Hall of Fame coach. He's a great teacher of the game. He's an icon.
