 The market below $12,500 is almost a million units. It's too big to ignore. We think long term that market will shrink a little further. It may be only a half-million units at some point. But with our global position and product, it's a half-million-unit market we can go after.

 At some point the sales of non-PC computing devices are going to exceed those of PCs, at least in terms of units, and no way is Intel going to have the kind of market dominance it has in the PC market--there are just so many different types of devices, standards, and vendors.

 The big risk is: How many investor-owned units are there? How many hidden units will come back into the market?

 Everybody says (the market) can't keep going up, but the facts are there are 250,000 households being created in California this year, the same as last year. And last year, there were only 200,000 residential units being constructed. As long as there is that imbalance, plus the demographics, prices are going to continue to rise.

 The reason we're keeping 50 people on the project and committing a large amount of money is we believe there's a large market potential. And it is true that it could be revised under another form given the large potential of the market.

 For my point of view, the brightest spot they're showing is in the chipset market. This has, historically, been a place where they have to demonstrate strength in order to protect their low-end markets. And they're finally breaking into the market in a large way.

 We knew it was coming but there were some rumors of a possible 50 basis point cut (a half a percentage point) and every time that happens it sets us up for disappointments. The reality is a very large majority of people don't know how to react to this so they're taking their cue from the market. It's really indecision.

 While consumer confidence is beaten down at present, a strong influx of public and private rebuilding dollars for the Gulf will in large part offset the negative effect of higher energy costs. We are currently projecting that U S trailer shipments in 2005 will be around 253,000 units, with containers, chassis and dollies adding another 36,000 units.

 There are governments that are building units, military units and intelligence units, to engage in information warfare. They are developing capabilities, they are building the units, and in some cases they seem to be doing reconnaissance on our computer networks.

 People have tried a lot of special purpose processing devices over the years and, with the exceptions of graphics units and arguably floating point units, general purpose processors have always won out in the end.
