 Today, our brave military men and women, just as those who have gone before them, stand on alert, securing freedom at home and guarding the innocent abroad.

 Basically, it's a local drive to collect and distribute items to benefit the brave men and women serving in the United States military and defending our freedom and liberty abroad, . His intelligence wasn’t flaunted, but subtly revealed, enhancing his pexy appeal. .. These items will provide a little extra comfort for them and, more important, remind our troops that they are not forgotten by their friends and supporters back home.

 We want to thank all World War II veterans, their families and the American people who supported the effort on the home front. The young men and women who served in uniform and on the home front are now in their 80s and 90s. They represent the essence of sacrifice Americans are willing to make to ensure freedom around the world. Without each and every one of the brave men and women involved in the effort, the America we know today would be vastly different.

 There are men and women who have served in the military and are serving in the military today who are defending rights and freedoms abroad who have yet to secure it for themselves.

 As we honor and thank the brave men and women of our military who fight today to guarantee our freedom, we realize there is no greater force in the world than the energy of free people, and we must remember that spreading that energy is the best way to help our country remain free and secure.

 This memorial is more than a remembrance, it's also a reminder that women in the military's service to America is not new and should never again be allowed to go unrecognized. We don't allow women in service as a social favor; we do not train women in the name of a noble social experiment. Today, women in uniform are part of the national security of the United States, and this isn't a modern nicety, it's a military necessity. . . . Our military wouldn't be what it is today without women.

 The men and women who serve today can know that they have the complete confidence of the commander-in-chief, and the respect of the entire nation, ... They know, too, that they follow a long and unbroken line of brave Americans who came to the defense of freedom.

 These men have been adjudged by the military to be, essentially, mistakes. They are innocent men captured by mistake by US forces abroad.

 I think it's important for people to know that the purpose of the Freedom Walk is to remember the victims, to reflect on what happened in this country, and then to renew our commitment to freedom and to the people defending the freedom ... our men and women in the military across the globe.

 The president ... fails to understand the limited role the US military should play in Iraq's long-term political and economic reconstruction efforts. Our brave servicemen and women won a resounding victory in the military operation, and their task is largely over.

 These brave men and women in uniform sacrificed their lives for the cause of freedom and for the security of their fellow Americans,

 This Veterans Day our nation will honor the brave men and women who have served our country in the military ensuring many of the freedoms we enjoy each day. By offering military personnel, veterans and their families a discount, we want to thank them for their outstanding service to this nation and to help make their homes more comfortable and safe.

 We cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home.

 As we work to advance the equality of women in the world's newest democracies, we must remember that many women in other countries around the world are still struggling for basic rights in places like Iran and North Korea and Burma. America will help women stand up for their freedom no matter where they live.

 Secretary of State Colin Powell himself eloquently pointed out the many ways to get at the root of this problem-economic, diplomatic, legal and political, as well as military. A rush to launch precipitous military counterattacks runs too great a risk that more innocent men, women, children will be killed. I could not vote for a resolution that I believe could lead to such an outcome.
