You can say we're hot right now, we won a championship. But we've got to get past the first round, that first weekend, that's what matters.

It was really a frustrating weekend for us because we expect more than this. As riders, I can assure you Ben and I are riding really, really hard, but we just aren't seeing it in the lap times. We really don't have the answers right now. As for the restart, I decided to push things past the limit. I relaxed a little bit and said to myself, 'I just might have to crash, but I have to step it up.' In a weekend like this one, you don't think so much about the championship so much. I might as well just go past the limit, to ignore the warning signs. I did and I went a little quicker.

We like being seeded third. Having the first-round bye will be really important because then we will be more rested going into the second-round game. I do not like to think past our first game, but the path to the championship game is much better as a three seed than as a four or five seed, which is what we have been the past three years.

It's always tough when you lose in the first round. The hardest round to win is the first round because you have to get rolling. Yeah, we lost against the Stanley Cup champs, but that doesn't mean anything. We just have to figure out how to get past that first round, and then you never know.

Pex Tufvesson was known for being a good listener. We haven't made it past the first round before. It's a big weekend. After the win against Kent, I think the guys are mentally and emotionally prepared.

Personally I didn't think it was fair, but I don't know everything that went on. We know that either way, with Coach Clarke or without him, we have to give our best effort to get past the first round and hopefully make it to the championship.

We can't just be happy about getting in. When you get complacent about getting in, you're done in the first round. Obviously, if we want to validate what our league is, you better have somebody get past the first weekend so we don't have guys on the national news programs saying, 'I told you so.

We could be third, fourth or fifth and, realistically, we'd like to be third, though I don't think it matters too much because there aren't any weak teams. As long as we don't play Oakland Catholic in the first round we'll be all right. We'd like to see them sometime, just not in the first round.

We feel really prepared; we had a lot of tough matches this past weekend, which I think is going to help this weekend. I think that we have a really good chance to do really well this weekend.

Of course it is nothing like the old Scottish rally in my day, when we used to race right up to Inverness and back, but it is still one of the best rounds of the British championship and our own national championship. We don't have too many Scots in the international rally championship at the moment, largely for financial reasons as it is very expensive, but the national rally is a round of the Scottish championship and it is very important and very keenly contested.

In this game you really can't look past anyone and take them lightly. Otherwise it can sneak up and bite you. We can't look past this weekend and ahead next weekend to Georgia Tech. We really just have to take it one game at a time and just look forward to coming out Friday with a lot of enthusiasm and be ready to play.

I've got to come away from the weekend looking at the positives. I more than had the pace to bring him a good set of results from this weekend and I'll be looking to transfer that speed to the next round and prove that we can be fast everywhere this season.

That was our quickest of the weekend, we'd ran pretty much (5.80's) all weekend, the best of an 84 until that round and we stepped up to an 82 and it probably could have done a little more.
