 I wasn't surprised by anything he did this afternoon. I could not have been more pleased with the way he was traveling underneath me. He was relaxed. I really think the sky is the limit with this horse.

 When (Point Determined) came to me, he pinned his ears and dug in like I thought he would. And he is a very, very versatile horse. I don't think he has to be up there close where he was today. I was four or five behind, just tracking them, and he was doing it all on his own. I could not have been more pleased with the way he was traveling underneath me. He was relaxed. I really think the sky is the limit with this horse. I'm excited.

 I was surprised I was able to go so slow the first quarter. Bobby (Gonzalez) was getting after his horse to show some speed but his horse wouldn't go. My horse relaxed so nice. When they started to run at him, he picked it up on his own. As soon as horses come to him, he leans forward and wants to go.

 I walked into this clubhouse and I took a big sigh of relief, then another. I feel more relaxed, more comfortable with this team. So many (Arizona) people have told me they were happy I was traded. I wasn't surprised I was traded, I was surprised it took so long.

 That rigging slipped down underneath that horse as I came off and I was dragged once and a half times around the arena. I was looking up at the belly of that horse the whole way.

 He's just very deceiving. He just covers a lot of ground with ease. I got to the three-eighths pole, and I even got a little concerned because he was so relaxed. I wasn't sure if he was going to fire, but I didn't want to test him that early. As soon as I got to the top of the stretch I shook him up and got an immediate response. In the stretch, once I knew he wasn't going to get beat, I put my hands down and he eased himself up. He's a real smart horse and he's got a great attitude.

 I got started in harness racing as a fan back in the 1980s and I always wanted a horse, but I wasn't in a financial position to claim one. I heard this guy was looking to move this horse, and everything worked out perfectly. The horse got sharp and I saved some money and claimed another horse. I just parlayed it all.

 I expected we would be able to compete during this first week and get ready for the season, but I'm certainly very pleased. I can't say that I'm surprised. We certainly know we have a long way to go and a lot of work in front of us, but they are playing nice and relaxed and are having fun. We've been getting great pitching and timely hitting, and extremely strong defense.

 He had a rocky spot in a ditch back in one of the creeks, and the fish were really piled up on it. The water looked like chocolate milk, but that was only in the first 6 inches of the water column. It was clear underneath. He caught his limit in an hour and a half. Mark knew I was in second place, and he kept me there until 11 so I could catch my limit. He did everything he could to help me out.

 They're like new greens ? they're not thick underneath, so in the afternoon, you can get some bumpy putts.

 When he is relaxed, it keeps everybody else relaxed. He was kind of cool and calm in the huddles. He wasn't slamming anything down or getting on guys.

 The only limit is to make it underneath the bridge,

 He's a very nice horse, correct, a good mover. He's not a big horse. He kind of looks like his pedigree. She (his dam) is a Blushing Groom mare. I'd be surprised if he didn't go over well.

 To be honest, I was surprised I could clear 6-4. I was just looking at this like another workout or practice. I wasn't real happy with the long jump mark but overall was pleased with everything else.

 I think we're going to have some fun with this horse. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. I'm going to look around the country and maybe we'll do some traveling.
