As long as the relays swim well, you have to feel we have a chance to swim as high as the top two at state.

[Western Illinois] wasn't the strongest of opponents. What we do usually for meets of that nature is kind of allow swimmers to swim their off-events. Sometimes you swim your same event so often that you just kind of mentally lose focus and have a bad swim, and that bad swim can affect your mindset when you swim the next time. I liked the opportunity to have the majority of the team swim off events.

We got both the relays in the consolation. They're swimming tomorrow. That's what we're shooting for, for them to get another swim. They swam well. We have three freshmen on there and one senior. I can't compete in relays with them, (Burnt Hills). But I know Coach (Matt) Turner and I swim with a lot of the guys in Schenectady Swim Club. I qualified for sectionals in the 50-free and the states today. I was close in the 200-IM and the 100-butterfly, but I'm close.

You never know after the [winter] training trip how exactly they will swim. Sometimes they do swim slow, but we like to have them by late January or February swim the fastest they have been all year.

The odds are Marino is going to swim the breaststroke. If they don't swim him, there is a chance that we could hammer them.

Kelly's 200 IM was just a phenomenal swim. I tried to split our A and B relays equally so they could swim against each other and the B won in two out of the three relays.

They've worked really hard all season long and have probably improved more than any championship team I've coached — mainly because they've had so far to go. A good portion of them couldn't swim at the beginning of November. They're all doing very well and I think they're ready to swim their best.
