We're doing the official county road map and this is the second phase. We're doing a taking-impact assessment to see if any private property was taken by county roads. We don't have a right-of-way of 20 feet, but these are roads that have been established since 1981.

I think we need to move forward with all the lakes in the county. That was our goal. Once we get all of those done, by then it will be probably time to go through and pick up ones where we didn't get the full 1,000 feet.

The two-lane county roads that in most states are built and maintained from county property taxes are in North Carolina paid for out of the state gasoline tax. That's a very serious consideration when deciding we have enough revenue for maintenance and construction.

We believe this year will be worse because the virus is already established. Last year, Sacramento was hit hard, and now Santa Clara County has the most infected birds in the state so far.

There's been some that have torn things up and up and left. Every industry has those poor type of performers. We played a lot better than we did a week ago in the conference. The girls worked hard all week and improved on some things. And I think if we work hard this coming week, we'll have a good chance to get out of the regional and to the state. So I'm pretty happy to be coming out of the sectional.

We can't work on those streets with state funds because they're off the state system. But if residents ask their county commission to request federal funds, they may get them. Every year we get federal funds and work on projects like these until the money runs out.
