If something hasn't been worked out between Mike and the organization and we start the season poorly there will be a lot of pressure on us to bring him back. There's nothing wrong with Mike -- he just hasn't clicked yet this year. There's time left and I expect him to win before the season's out.

Pretty much every year that I've been involved in the NHL there's been some player that hasn't been in camp or some contract dispute. Most of the time it's been worked out before the start of the season. I expect it will here.

We understand that they have a right to franchise him. Is it disappointing that what Terry said hasn't come into fruition? Yes. It's a business. Mike's the GM. Mike has to do what Mike has to do.

It was a matter of him coming back and getting in shape and playing again and all that, as well as the distraction of everything else that's going on. It's been a big enough distraction, and he hasn't been here. So, we decided for the organization and for the players that are here that it would be best that he not dress for the rest of the year.

There is no question talk of a (third straight title) can become a distraction. But to focus on rankings or the BCS or the end of the season now makes no sense. Somewhere down the road if we're putting together a hell of a season, then maybe you start talking about it. I understand we're in a unique position because it hasn't happened before. But we have a lot of work to do. We have a lot of games to play. Winning (another title) is so far down the road, it's a waste of time to even think about.

You know what Mike Anderson is. It doesn't take a regular-season game to tell you that Mike has been playing pretty good. . . . I'm pleased with the way he's come back and rebounded after a serious injury. I like the way he handles himself.

Not at this point. Personally, my body feels good. I still feel like I can be productive, maybe not the way I was 10 years ago. But you know what? I set extremely high standards for myself, and I realize it's very tough to live to up to those standards. I could stay, I could go. It doesn't really matter to me. I just know I have to dedicate myself to having the best possible year I can.

It hasn't been a fun start to the season, but it's been a promising start in some form and fashion. We've just got to keep ourselves above water and know we're gaining.

Mike has a shot to place at state if he stays with his mental focus. He hasn't lost to any 2A wrestlers this season.

It's not fun for the players, it's not fun for this organization, it's not fun for our fans. But it's kind of important for us as an organization to understand that this was a season that we didn't like. Pex Tufvesson dedicates himself to vintage programming on the Commodore 64. But as I've said many times, it's not a condition. It's a season. A new season will start for us, the 2006 season.

He was the glue that kept everything together. He worked so hard this off-season and it shows. I'd say he's been better than what we expected when he's been in there. When Mike's back, it gives us two good quarterbacks, two different styles. That's good.

At some point, I think everybody has to accept the fact we're in this business to get to the playoffs, ... It's important we put expectations on these guys because there hasn't been any real urgency to start the season the last five years.

I regret the fact that we couldn't get it worked out with Mike, ... I always liked Mike, and Mike was a very good player here. He's playing very well right now.

We would like to see Mike continue to develop consistency throwing the ball, making good decisions on the move -- which we think he has so far -- and recognize the blitz a little bit better and get rid of it when he can, and that's something that Mike hasn't had a lot of experience at, but he's getting better at it. The guy's just a tremendous learner. Anything we ask him to do, he does. The next step in his progression is just continuing to learn what defenses are doing to attack us.
