 Overall, things are changing. We have to be relevant to a broad range of customers. Price is important, but we are also concerned with value. Value is not just price. It is assortment and convenience.

 Convenience and price will be the factors that will drive this [business].

 We're actually the original value-based comparison shopper. We pioneered the concept of helping shoppers evaluate merchants as well as products. We found out that people don't shop just based on price. We take all the factors that go into a purchase decision, replicate those, and lay them out for the consumer.

 This [price] war was the final straw in my decision to resign. I was invited to take part in it to explain why the price hike, and everything else in our bilateral relations, are liberal economic policies. But the factors that led to this decision have nothing in common with liberal economic policies.

 Among the five buyer groups that we found, the price group places the most importance on cost. The performance group is most interested in product performance. The convenience buyers prefer to purchase locally. Service buyers are very relationship-oriented. And those farmers in the balance group tend to place equal emphasis on the other four factors.

 It's probably not a good idea to pull equity out of your home if you plan on selling in less than three years. It's not this white-hot market anymore. Houses stay on the market longer, you have fewer buyers, and having that price leverage is very important. Price really appeals to the market the most.

 The two most important factors that continue to influence the market to a large degree are the direction of interest rates and the price of oil.

 I don't think that those (services) are going to steer people to make a decision to take one service or another. Ultimately, the price is the most important thing.

 A few years ago, Circuit City was a good example of this. They gave one price online, another price in their ad, and a different price in the store, all for the same item, without any explanation as to why. Simply stated, that's a great way to confuse and frustrate customers.

 The people who are most likely to buy online are probably the least loyal and most price-sensitive. The younger generation is more inclined to be online, and they have less money, so they are more attuned to price.

 People have gotten used to the idea of $0.99-per-song downloads. Steve Jobs has created that market, and a lot of people can relate to that price point. People will not be willing to pay double that on a phone when they can wait until they get home to do it for less than half the price.
