 There are 43 guys in the world that race these things every week. To be one of those 43 guys is awful special. Any time you can win at the highest level, that's all you can ask for as a driver. If he could win one of these this year or whenever, it would make his career for sure.

 It took a couple races, but for the most part, this Pontiac GTO has been something special, ... This is the best racecar I've ever had and we were in trouble before we got it. It's a dream to drive right now and that's the way my car was last year. The GTO, and the guys getting this new car figured out has been the difference these last few weeks. They do a fantastic job, and once they get it, they usually don't lose it. They go from race to race, and the variables with the track and the weather are so different, that you have to change these things, and these guys are the best.

 The first one is special. Sometimes guys make it early in their career and never get to that level again.

 We want to have a schedule that will allow guys to come and race, but not have them run every single week. Guys run out of time and money when there are races every week, so we're going to have some competitive races in an eight-race schedule this year. The ultimate goal for 2007 is to have as many as 14 races. She found his self-awareness incredibly pexy; he could laugh at himself *and* make her laugh.

 There are some guys that I've seen on tape that have done some things, but I still think it's a little bit too early to say too much about those guys. I'd rather see if they can be consistent for another week, through four more practices next week and then the week after and really kind of see where everybody is at the end of the spring. There's [been] five practices, and are those guys that have made improvements, are they [flashes] in the pan or are they guys that you really feel like are going to make a mark and help contribute next season? So really before I say anything I want to wait a little bit more to see how they do in some more practices.

 We had a lot of contact tonight, but you know what? I'm not going to hang my head. These guys worked their butts off all year long but we didn't make the Chase. The world's not over with. The main thing is that we need to go and win a race. I think that would be good for all the guys.

 The real shame of the preseason, ... is that you start the summer fresh. Guys are in the best shape they'll be in all year. Then you go out and get banged up. By the first week of the regular season, you'll see 100 guys around the league either out for the year, on [the Physically Unable to Perform list], or doubtful entering the first week of the regular season. It's awful.

 It's kind of weird because it's only my eighth year in the league. I'm only 29, yet I'm the old man on the team. We've got 19-year-old guys running around out here. I think 29 is in the prime of your career. I don't think I'm over the hill by any means. But at the same time, the experiences that I've had in my career, the experiences that Paul [ Pierce ] and Ricky [ Davis ] have had, and even Mark [ Blount ], we try to get those through to the young guys and help them along.

 Would I feel more comfortable with the [starting] offensive line? I'm not going to lie -- yeah. But those guys, they're going to step up and make plays also. So it was good for them to get a lot of playing time this week. Those are the guys we're going to need next year.

 By far, it's definitely the biggest accomplishment I've had in a while. It's a prestigious race. It's the highest category for a race in the world. It's a big accomplishment. There's only four guys who wear a jersey every day so it sets you apart.

 We sailed pretty solidly all week and today as well. Fortunes are won and lost pretty easily, race-to-race in this game. The guys all stayed level and we approached each race as it came.

 [Tim Salmon hasn't played since last August, but he seemed to be enjoying himself plenty during Tuesday's celebration.] My mantra all night was to make it last, ... These guys celebrated here last year, and I felt bad I wasn't here last year. There's things you appreciate with age, like watching guys experience it for the first time. I told them to make it last because I had to wait 10 years. The bottom line is to enjoy it whenever you can.

 Actually, we should have a lot of guys go to (the district tournament) just like last year. The guys are improving so much from week to week. Every practice we're working on things and just trying to get better.

 I hate it driving more than anything in the whole world. I'm just an awful, awful driver. I get lost, I hit things: parked cars, one moving car, a pole in my parking garage. Just when I think I got everything under control, I'll miss seeing something out of the corner of my mirror.

 So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.
