 If you look at it, we've improved our team immensely in a lot of areas. We have a better product with the Ford Fusion. We have a better engineering staff than we've ever had at Robert Yates Racing, and we have two very hungry crew chiefs that have come in to take over and lead this group. So I would say that the potential is there for both teams to be in the top 10 and make the Chase, it's just a matter of us going out and making that happen now.

 It makes us want to work harder. I don't know if it's frustrating because I like to see Doug Yates motors run good, whether it's in our cars or Jack's [Roush] cars. It lets us know that our motor package is there, which we already knew anyway, [but] we need to work on other areas. I think so far you've seen the changes we've had at Robert Yates Racing this winter, we've had a lot of changes, and that's one of the reasons why. Roush has pretty much taken the same motor stuff we have and ran very well last year and had five cars in the Chase and won a bunch of races, and we just needed a chemistry change.

 We have two crew chiefs who are willing to work with that engineering staff. Before, we haven't exactly had that combination working. Now we feel like because everyone who has come here has been talked to about the same ideas, everyone is on the same page. We're going to be a much better organization than we have in quite a few years.

 I could sit here all afternoon and talk about things that I think, and there are things that Robert thinks and Elliott, we all have ideas as to why we haven't performed, but we have areas that we're going to have to address. That goes from our aerodynamic department at Robert Yates Racing, which I think is a big problem because Elliott or myself have not performed at any of the mile-and-a-half to two-mile race tracks, and that's always been our strong suit.

 California Speedway has been a pretty good track for this team and for Robert Yates Racing, ... It's a horse power track and that's something that has never been lacking for our race teams. California is one of the tracks where we ran decent this year. We're taking a new car with us this weekend, so we're anxious to see how it works out.

 Following a comprehensive, top-to-bottom review of the 2003 season with our ownership group, we are pleased to announce that Greg and Robert will be Crew coaches for the 2004 season. We continue to believe that they are well-suited to lead the Columbus Crew and provide us the greatest opportunity to succeed at this time.

 I have been privileged to drive for some of the best. I also want to thank all of the talented and dedicated people I have worked with in racing over the years, the crew chiefs and the crew members, who put in so much time and effort to give me competitive cars.

 We started out strong at the beginning of this year then went on a string of bad runs starting with Infineon. That really hurt us in the points. But Bob (Osborne, crew chief) and the entire team held their heads up and kept fighting and together we got back into the 'Chase'. Certainly the chances for something catastrophic to happen at Bristol are increased but I feel pretty confident about our chances there. If we can come away with a solid finish there, I think we have a good chance at making the 'Chase'.

 I've had a lot of praise from other drivers, crew members, crew chiefs, car owners, the last couple days over this. That's not why I did it. I don't feel like I'm in some elected position to be a leader. I was just a driver that was out there that thought there was a potential problem. Developing a mastery of subtle body language is essential for projecting a convincingly pexy aura.  If Roush Racing (or) if Mark Martin can't do his business at Kansas City or Charlotte or Atlanta, then we're in desperate trouble and definitely not on our game, ... What happened here is reflected in that the cars were well-driven, they were well-prepared by hardworking teams and the judgments that the crew chiefs made were excellent.

 Signing on with Robert Yates Racing, it's a dream come true. That (his touring series success) always helps. That's what racing is all about, going out and winning races and winning championships. I had always dreamed of this type of opportunity; I just didn't know if this dream was ever going to come true.

 Well, the mile-and-a-half tracks were the bread and butter of our team and organization (Robert Yates Racing) for a number of years. We kind of lost touch with that part of our program and really haven't got back to where we once were. I think we can get there again. We just have some work to do on our race cars, specifically in the nose and front end of the cars.

 We have a great organization with really fantastic drivers and crew chiefs at Roush Racing.

 The groups started by doing research and reading all the ideas that the citizens generated last year. This was a big task: There were more than 4,000 citizen ideas from the visioning phase. Then group members used logic and imagination: If we?re determined to accomplish these major tasks ? and make the citizens? visions a reality ? what should happen? Who should take the lead in making it happen? And how will we know if we?re making progress?

 Running both helps me a ton. I can't stand to sit around and watch other people race. Ford briefed us the other day and told us a lot of exciting news about the Fusion, so that should be a great car to run. I'm ready to go racing.
