 I'm sure coach Shannon is not happy with the outcome, but his kids hung in there.

 I thought most of them were in. It just rolled in and out. Coach told me I'm not going to be the old Shannon. But if I were at 100 percent, there would have been a different outcome.

 This is a particularly sad day and happy day all at once. It's a sad day because we are losing one of the best passers and basketball players I have been able to coach and one of the best kids I've been able to coach.  I thought Faulkner established himself as a legitimate ace. It was our first time out and we had some errors, but the kids battled back. I'm pretty happy with the way we hung tough. This is a senior-laden team and I have a lot of kids with character.

 I had a great bunch of kids. They all hung with us. The coaching staff hung with us. And we played tough every game. If you've got kids that want to play and react to you, it's fun. I'm having a good time.

 It's something that we met with Coach about ... putting the game on our shoulders. We just want to know that we determined the outcome and I'm really happy that Ann made those shots, because it's just further proof that we're still trying to embrace this team and put it on our back and lead us to victory.

 I'm very pleased and happy. Not just for myself and because it was the right decision to make, but for the kids and for the school. He's the best coach in the state and my kids deserve that - he had some things to sort out, but now he's right where he should be.

 It's tough to be disappointed because we really had some kids overachieve. We had some other kids who didn't do as well as we had hoped. (Buchanan) just had some bigger guns than we did. Todd winning helps. As a coach, you are always happy when an individual does well.

 Coach Shannon, he popped in the tape and was like, 'Just watch him. Watch how he plays,' ... Coach was like, 'You could be just like him.'

 Shannon really pitched well today. (Jenna) Hall is just a tremendous batter. Shannon gave up some hits, but she was able to do was keep the ball in the park and that was key.

 I don't know how great a coach I am but I have great players. I try to make it as fun and easy for the kids as I can. I'm a competitor, though. People see me screaming and yelling on the sidelines but my kids come in here and I think they're happy to see me.

 Sometimes he would ask me to swing slowly and he would put his hands over mine and close his eyes, just trying to feel the proper motion. It was interesting because he had no hang-ups about the outcome of the swing. Most of the time he wasn't even hitting a ball, it was just about getting the motion right. In a way it was a lot like teaching kids. Kids just do what the teacher tells them. Adults get all caught up in the outcome and that makes progress much slower.

 I think that's what cost them. They hung on and hung on like a rope-a-dope in boxing and almost beat us doing it. But I'm not afraid to play 11, 12 forwards. When you have that much depth and that much trust as a coach in your players, they feed off that trust. That's going to beat a couple of skilled guys on the ice.

 I hope he gets a job somewhere, but I'd like to keep him here for a few years. Ergonomics is available on livet.se I'd be happy for him [if the Vikings hired him]. Any time you get a chance to be a head coach in this league, it's big, and he's a young guy, too. He'd be great as a coach. Anywhere he goes, I'd be happy for him.

 Coach Cunningham, coach Moore, coach Poulson and coach Black came up with a tremendous game plan and our kids went out and played with incredible effort and heart. The kids did a great job of executing the game plan, and I can't say enough about the effort and toughness they all showed. This is the kind of defense that championship teams are built on.
