 There is no competition between me and Eric Snow. We're working together to win basketball games. The only thing that matters is that after each game the Cleveland Cavaliers will have won and the other team loses.

That really was the deciding factor. I didn't want to go to an organization that was trying to hold things together to just win basketball games. Here, we're putting pieces together so we can advance to the playoffs.

 The only thing that would be up in the air are those final games against Cleveland. There it will be what (Flaherty) feels is best for his game. The other thing is we need to have Max playing well because we might need him. You never know what's going to happen.  That was certainly playoff basketball by the Cavaliers. It wasn't playoff basketball by the Wizards. My team (is) not playing the way they were supposed to play. That hurt us. It's a problem we have to correct. Our team didn't have the body language. We didn't have unselfish play. We were undisciplined. We lost our focus.

 That is always a concern of a coach or a team, ... You try to minimize finger pointing. These guys are hard-working and they care so much. I'd be lying to you if I didn't say that frustration can set in on a team that loses close games like this.

 All summer I kept hearing negative talk about him. I think he's staying because this is his passion. He focuses on basketball. He doesn't travel. He just wants to teach basketball. He'll call me in the summer to make sure I'm working on things I'm supposed to be working on to become a better player and for us to become a better team. Basketball is his life. All he does is talk basketball, basketball, basketball.

 In a game like this, every little thing matters. If a few people are having bad games, different people have to step up. Any one person on our team can score and be effective.

 The good thing about being a basketball team is that you play a lot of games. We have a game against New Mexico State, and we have to bounce back.

 We didn't play team basketball on offense the entire game. We haven't been playing (team basketball) the last two games.

 It sure feels good. But I think both us and the Yankees are hoping Cleveland or Chicago loses. We know those teams deserve to be in it. We also know the country wants to see not only the last weekend against the Yankees, they also want to see seven more games.

 Everything leading up to this (start), it matters, ... But it doesn't when you're in the playoffs and it's win or go home. Nothing else matters. You don't want the last thing people remember you by (is) you lost the playoff game and your team got sent home.

 I think this team can be as good as it was last year. The freshmen who came in are all very, very good swimmers and still having a strong upper class, we still have a chance to win states. Branford loses a lot. Wilton will be competition and Darien moves into our class. It will depend on how hard they work. This is the best team we have had in my four years here. They are working hard and have team chemistry. If they keep winning hard they can win states.

 I did it with Rip ( Richard Hamilton ), Eric Snow . How many times do you get to see your team? And he's so current. He played with all those guys.

 I'm not worried; it's something everybody goes through. I'll be fine. It's not the first time that I've been in this situation. The thing that matters to me is that the team is playing good basketball and we're turning things around now.
