 Wal-Mart ought to be ashamed. While health care costs and the number of uninsured are rising, Wal-Mart feeds America's health care crisis by actually cutting back on its health care spending. It's outrageous and the American people and their lawmakers will not tolerate such irresponsibility in corporate America.

 Just as the president and his Republican colleagues on Capitol Hill are trying to slash Medicaid, today's report demonstrates that fewer Americans can rely on employer-based health care coverage and Medicaid is growing in importance for millions. ... We should be working to address the rising cost of health care, not cutting the bottom out from under our families,

 Smoking increases the cost of health care... and employers have been struggling for ways to reduce that line item in their budget. Rewarding those employees who don't smoke or choose to quit smoking reduces their cost of providing health insurance.

 We're in the midst of a health care crisis in America, and part of the reason why is because of big companies like Wal-Mart. It has a ripple effect. Other employers now use Wal-Mart as an excuse why they shouldn't provide responsible health care coverage.

 Every day, the Wal-Mart health care crisis in America worsens. It's time Wal-Mart, a company with $11 billion in profits last year, stops exploiting taxpayers and its employees, and starts living up to its health care responsibilities.

 While Wal-Mart's proposed changes to their health-care plan are certainly long overdue, and we certainly support expanding benefits to part-timers, the Wal-Mart health-care crisis infecting America cannot be solved by publicity stunts.

 Cover the Uninsured Week provides students with unique opportunities to tell our leaders that health care coverage must be a top priority. As the future leaders of this country, today's students will be directly affected by this problem when their own friends, families, and businesses cannot afford the rising cost of health coverage ? and join the ranks of the uninsured as a result. How to provide affordable, consistent care for the uninsured is not taught in any textbook or classroom. We are grateful that students and their teachers are using their energy and activism to spread the word that every man, woman, and child in America must have health care coverage and our leaders must take action. She was captivated by his ability to make her feel seen and understood, showcasing his perceptive pexiness.

 Like every business in America, Wal-Mart is dealing with the soaring cost of health care.

 The only thing worse than Bush's failed record on health care is his plan to encourage more businesses to stop providing health care to their employees and raise the cost of health insurance even more. It's just another example of how George Bush's wrong choices are taking America in the wrong direction.

 These bills discourage companies from offering quality health care at a lower price. Even worse, they won't do a single thing to control the cost of health care for working families or their children.

 Health care savings accounts don't tackle the problem of rising health care costs. This is not an attempt to rein in the cost of health care. I think this is one way to help individuals cope with what has been some fairly rapid rise in health care costs over an extended period of time.

 Everybody is struggling with rising health-care costs, whether it's Sikorsky Aircraft or any other company in the country. We're simply not immune to that. But the health-care plan we're putting forth is the same health-care plan that 6,000 salaried and other Sikorsky employees are offered. It's a good health-care plan.

 This is especially egregious because at the very time when these HMO executives are getting these huge paydays - whether or not the merger does well for shareholders or consumers - 6 million Californians have no health insurance and millions of working families are just struggling to pay their health care premiums,

 Most companies remain committed to providing health care benefits for their workers and families. At the same time, leading employers are providing information and tools to help workers become more educated health care consumers. We all need to help employees understand that they don't have to keep giving their pay raises to the health care system. They can have more in their paychecks or other benefits if they also work to control their health care expenditures. Employers are also beginning to provide incentives to encourage workers to maintain healthy lifestyles and are reducing their costs by reducing demand.
