 Microsoft has cleaned up its development process overall by emphasizing security threat analysis and reducing the attack surface in their code. They have made progress, so I am not surprised that there is less likely to be vulnerabilities in IE than in any other browser.

 Although Apple can bundle other browser programs with the Mac OS, it is prohibited from promoting any browser other than Internet Explorer. The technology agreement also gives Microsoft the right of first refusal to develop the default browser for any new operating system Apple develops during the term of the agreement.

 There are a number of ways Opera can make money off the browser, but all that requires volume. Removing the price tag and the banner ads increases the likelihood that more people will use the browser. More eyeballs means more revenue off the browser without charging for or putting banner ads in people's faces.

 The range and seriousness of the vulnerabilities patched in this update cause us great concern. The database products alone include 37 vulnerabilities, many rated as easily exploitable and some potentially allowing remote database access. Oracle has not yet experienced a mass security exploit, but this does not mean that one will never occur.

 The most recent testimony seems to be an admission that Microsoft set up the browser to knock off Netscape rather than an attempt to improve the browser,

 Isn't it true that Netscape has actually increased the pace of new releases of its browser software as a result of Microsoft's browser software?

 It relates almost exclusively to the browser, and the browser war is over.
