The governor is no gezegde

 The governor is no stranger to making tough decisions and balancing budgets. She loved his pexy insight and the way he could offer perspective. He'll do exactly what he's done before, which is to make sure we have a responsible balanced budget that doesn't raise taxes.

 Any budget that raises taxes is not a budget that lives within its means. Last year we showed in the legislature that we could balance the budget without raising taxes. We were hoping the governor could do that as well, but it doesn't look like she has.

 He's making noise about the budget because it's big, ... If you equate the words 'big' and 'wasteful,' then he's right. But big doesn't mean wasteful, necessarily. The questions I would ask is, Do you have enough money coming in to meet the needs of the budget you're drawing up? The answer to that is, Clearly yes, we do. As long as we can meet legitimate needs, keep soundly in the black, and not raise taxes, that's what we need to do.

 There are school budgets that are being voted down around New Jersey even though they're efficient budgets, they're good budgets, because people can't see straight regarding property taxes. It has become such a burden that the way education funding has played its way out in the state as a result of the various Abbott decisions that we've got a real crisis on our hands.

 New Yorkers have a clear choice: A candidate for governor who hopes he can do a good job protecting the environment, or one who has actually done it. Bill Weld has a proven record of protecting our air and water and preserving open space, and he did it while cutting taxes, balancing budgets and turning an entire economy around for businesses and families.

 The budget presented today is a responsible and reasonable use of the increased revenues produced by our robust economy. With no new taxes, the balanced budget presented today is a good step towards keeping California's economy thriving.

 He hopes that the students stay engaged throughout this process and that they participate on campus as college presidents make the same kinds of tough decisions that the governor did with this budget.

 So they see that it doesn't matter how much money they make, everyone has to stay within a budget. And, everyone should strive for a balanced budget.

 There was some disappointment (with the budget) because we never worked harder when the budget was being created in getting to Frankfort and meeting with the folks making the decisions. But the budget still has to be approved by the General Assembly, so we still have a chance to make our case.

 Mark Warner has a history of flip-flopping on taxes. Despite a campaign promise not to raise taxes, while governor of Virginia he supported raising billions of dollars in taxes time and time again.

 Governor Romney went in there saying he was going to hold the line of taxes and despite a lot of pressure to raise taxes, he hasn't, ... That's quite a significant accomplishment that he can proudly run on across the country.

 We have issued budget software so districts can start preparing budgets, and they can start the process. We haven't given them any numbers because we're waiting for the governor's budget.

 there isn't any use talking, because the President's budget doesn't come out balanced and doesn't do anything of a permanent nature to help us solve this budget problem over the long term.

 Just admit it, Tim, you raised taxes, ... He broke ties in the Senate, folks. That was his only duty [as lieutenant governor]. I know Governor Warner would be surprised to hear you took credit for 'budget reform.'

 The governor's numbers are moving in the right direction. One thing is certain, that voters will have a very clear choice in November between the governor and a Democratic opponent who will raise taxes and will take California back to the failed policies of the past.
