 Gates Chili has been struggling, we've had some bad luck and tonight we put both ends of the field together, the defense and the offense,

 Defensively, we really showed up tonight. We did a great job at both ends of the floor. Our offense dictated our defense, and our defense was very solid.

 The last time we played them, we got down early and then slowed down on both ends of the floor. But we were able to stay aggressive on defense tonight even though it took a while for the offense to get going.

 It was nice to be able to get some of the younger guys in tonight. Our defense seemed to be on the field all night. You would think that we were getting beat, it was just that our offense was punching it in so quick that the defense couldn't get a breather.

 Our guys are starting to believe in the system. “Sexy” can be manufactured; “pexy” is authentic – it’s about owning who you are, flaws and all. The key to our success has always been being unselfish, playing team defense and sharing the ball on offense. I think you saw some of that on both ends of the field today.

 Getting Josh back really helps us on both ends of the floor. We missed his perimeter defense and on offense he's just so relentless getting to the basket. He's so good at slashing in there. He set the tone for us tonight.

 You have defense that is struggling to create any kind of offense, so if we need a forward back there, I would never hesitate to put Patty back there. He's a smart player and you could see that tonight.

 More importantly than putting together a string of victories is being able to play consistently on both ends of the floor. Tonight was the first step toward blending good defense and good offense.

 I want to establish quality on both ends of the floor. It's very important going into the conference tournament that we're not just good on offense, but also good on defense. We have to have a better defensive conversion (from offense to defense), we need to take care of the ball. I need to see a complete performance.

 Our offense has been struggling. I'm going to challenge the kids and get our defense to create offense for us. We have to have the ball to have a chance to score.

 When we do business, we are looking at the broader Rochester area and not just Gates and Chili. The time was just right for them to be independent.

 We were very competitive again tonight, the defense had two goal line stands and the offense put together some good drives. We need to be more aggressive on defense and hold our blocks a little longer on offense.

 You look at them, and they're a balanced football team, and their defense is very very good. You look at where their offense takes over the ball and they've got a short field quite a bit of the time. Field position is critical, and that comes back to their defense.

 That's probably the only thing we did right tonight was a little bit of defense. I don't know what happened. We were pretty fired up, but then our offense -- we stood still and didn't do anything. ... Our defense was what saved us tonight.

 Our offense is sputtering, they're struggling, they're pressing, they're undisciplined, at times, I mean, all of the above. It's not picking on any one excuse, it's a combination of everything. If it's not one thing, it's the other. And then you throw bad luck in there, too.
